know that freezing is a common problem for many chipped PS2's...

I have no problems with this game. And 9 out of 10 times, it isn't the burnings fault, it's the chip itself. I owned a PS2 with a magic chip - it froze all the time.

What chip do you have btw?

lol a magic chip Sad not sure which version i believe a 3.x I put it in a long time ago. What chip would you recommend with a new slimline based ps2 as i'm thinking of picking one up and modding it.

Edit- not many other burns freeze up though, and if they do it's not always in the same spot like this is.

I'm using a slim with a relatively old DMS3 (I think DMS4 is the latest) and all games work flawless.
I once also had a PS2 with a magic chip, a long long time ago, and all square games froze randomly. so no final fantasy at all back then, it really sucked!

Haha, same as me. the magic chips have a bad reputation. DMS is the way to go. I now have a subzero V 1.1 in my SLIM ( http://d-vices.com/subzero/ ). Works great, though it has a little bug that prevents it from booting up 100%. but once you're in-game, theres no problem.

This is a simple test to check if your magic chip is the problem:
Try running Kingdom Hearts (let the intro movie run) or Final Fantasy X. If they randomly lock up, it's the chip. I also had those random luck-ups, though SOME games run flawlessly.

EDIT - I did read somewhere about a workaround, where they disabled the chip right after bootup. But you'll need to modify the chip to make it work. It's a hassle.

Hum maybe i'll look into how to disable the chip. If not I def wanna get a slim ps2 before they stop selling them and keep it.

Did you check the retail version? I wonder why there was over 0.41GB different in size?

you mean the iNTEON release? The size of the burned disc and all its files and dates are exactly the same.

Your point? Razz I made those screenies earlier. I could make a screenie of the properties of each disc Smile Somehow the main file containing all stuff is hidden though.. so I can't check the dates of those. Where do you see the 0.41 GB difference btw? Confused

Anyone know if the collectors content videos can be found anywhere? I was expecting to buy it but none of the stores around here even got any let alone sold out of em, so I just ended up buying the regular one at CC.

SE haven't ruled out a plan to re-release FFX, X-2 and XII as HD releases. Now of course FFXII was a steaming pile of shite... but I'd pay for remake of FFX, that's for damned sure Very Happy Gotta love the bullshit from SE though, the very same line they constantly feed the press whilst simultaneously ignoring the shit out of every single person who ever called themselves fans;

They'll consider the remakes "only if the demand was there" LOLWUT? You mean like the thirty or forty million people SCREAMING for a remake of FFVII...? That kind of demand? I swear, SE are fucking allergic to making money >_<

I would pay for 7 through to 10.

X-2 and XII were shite, as was XIII

I strongly disagree, 8 and 10 had two of the very best stories in the entire saga.

Yes sir, we most certainly can! <3 Even though FFIV lost a great deal of the charm when it was remade into 3D for the NDS, I'm still hoping FFVI gets the same treatment sometime. It's be nice to play through that game again completely fresh ... seeing as how I've finished the "original" version DOZENS of times.

Yea, if there is a game that deserves and needs a remake, its definitely FF6, being a great game overall and having many epic setpieces it literally begs for a remake in HD.

(also so that cockfag Glottis may finally play it Cool Face)

Absolutely agreed. If we can't get a III/IV-3D style remake, at least - for the love of all that is holy - give us a remake akin to the FFIV-Complete Collection one. The visuals in that are omnomnom.

~edit~

Wait, what? He hasn't played FFVI? I *knew* there was a reason I hated that guy Laughing

This is a necro from hell, i know. Does this game ever open up? I just got Basch as a guest and the game thus far has felt like nothing but a big dungeon crawler. Everything has been sliced up into small sections and i've been traversing 3 or 4 long dungeons now. It most certainly not even half as good as X as of yet.

@Stormwolf

XII is basically an offline MMO. Some open fields but predominantly geared towards dungeons and raids. It's a thoroughly blegh game and you're absolutely right; not even half as good as X.

Just goes to show that a good few Japanese developers/publishers don't have the slightest clue about good design. They make a good game, but i'm starting to believe that happens by pure accident, followed by shit sequels where they don't really understand where things went wrong.

I haven't played many Jrpg's but i just can't find any alternatives. Always some shit that bugs me to no good end about many.

Xenoblade series, FFX, Ni no Kuni and some Tales games are the ones i can remember finishing. Don't like these sliced up zones that new newest tales titles are going for. Makes exploring utterly boring, and me unable to finish the game as a result. Gonna give Lost Odyssey a go again. Annoyed me that it went from manageable to instant wipe encounters. Seriously pissed me off.

A big YES toward the LO praise. It's one of the greatest games ever. And I'm not into JRPGs that much.

If You figure out the combat system the game is breeze. (and you collect all the deadlier versions of the attack spells, forceus, windus etc., but If you miss them you can always go to the auction house to claim them Smile
