The problem with games writing is that a lot of what gets attributed to one writer is rarely ever 100% their work. Aside from maybe Torment, where he did write big chunks himself (but not everything), there would be few games Avellone worked on where you wouldn't be seeing the results of a collaborative effort. Especially in recent years, where his contributions have been more piecemeal.
yeah, 60k, talk about not having a life.. i read today that the writer for ep3 of Loki deleted 5K tweets before getting hired, someone looked into it and a lot of the hateful tweets had the tag #whitegenocice... such nice people lol

The industry washed their hands and that's about it. I think the only studio who didn't rush into kicking him out the back door was Owlcat (Pathfinder). His reputation is forever tarnished, no matter the resolution of this clusterfuck. And reading his posts, I think he's still approaching this the wrong way. He should lawyer up (like Angry Joe did) and pursue this in the court. It's the only way to do something.

Even the kurwas from Dying Light that should now better not to emulate their 'merican counterparts woke shit seemingly kicked him out (unless it wasn't related to the allegations). Cancel culture is a modern scourge. If whatever they claimed was true they'd have a court case. Using Twitter and other social media to try to destroy a mans career while contradicting their own stories are strong signs of lies.

If he pulls this off, he could seriously dissuade people from amplifying or pushing shaky accusations on twitter.
When people know there is a real potential of legal consequence, they'll be much more careful about attempting to cancel/ruin lives with unsubstantiated claims.

I doubt he'll get much money out of them as both the primary defendants are pretty broke. Chris is already independently wealthy, so I doubt he cares that much about the money.
I suspect this is more about his image and making a stand. Even if it doesn't wipe the slate in regards to working in the industry, it's still empowering to be told you were in the right.
Also his legal action could set a precedent for future accused/cancelled individuals. For too long the wokeverse has been able to get away with spreading libellous accusations with zero proof. It's time they experienced true "consequence culture" (as some of them like to refer to cancel culture).
