I am kinda more excited about the optimization, than the actual new features in the game.

This update doesn't just add new content - it contains some significant technical improvements. Game assets are now loaded in the background as you play, making loading screens faster. You can now load to the login screen in less than a second on an SSD hard drive (two seconds on a non-SSD).
Everyone who played the game knows how slowly it loaded to the login screen, which was such a pain in the ass.
Fucking finally. POE's loading times were stupid, even on SSD.
You and reasonable amount of users here on nfohump should make a unique website for gaming news, bugs found ingame, suggestions for gameplay improvements cause u always have valid points for making adjustments to one or another title. Well not always, but still... even if u don't play something thoroughly, u have your own points. And if i would be developer i'd listen to u NFOHump has unique approach to gaming developing and that's why i'm here on this forum (as if it would matter)

Well, thanks for the compliment.
But i doubt that any bigger dev gives a shit what some people here would change in games. As it often would result in lower sales.

Will maybe try the new patch too. Played the last one till Act 2 on third difficulty i think. Got a bit boring then though. As the build i chose from the forums seemed a bit "too" optimized.

i'm too old for compliments... i just share my humble opinion.... and even our base is less vocal, it doesn't mean we have less valid points... ofc developers have their own paths, but some of them listen to user base more than others. And this is the case for GGG (PoE developers). And i'm sure there are lots of devs that would listen to neutral and experienced player base as NFOhump is. I'm poor in validating points (my lackluster english), but lots of here have reasonable suggestions uppon improving games and that is why i admire this forum before any other. And sometimes it's a pitty that your valuable discussion goes to a waste or flame wars unnoticed by devs
At least they're saying he's only there as an advisor and to help launch in China. I trust GGG to make a good Diablo game more than I trust David Brevik nowadays.
He deserves all the credit he can get for his involvement in the original game, but I don't want post-Blizzard David Brevik touching Path of Exile. The developers he hired created a better Diablo-clone (Torchlight) after they were separated from him. GGG already has PoE well in hand.
Tried the new patch and I'm impressed. Dx11 is working great, no more micro stutter or something like that, even when opening chests and multiple packs spawn. On top of that it also looks better now or am I imagning that because I haven't played PoE in a while?!
started this today, how exactly breaches work? found one, mobs spawned, killed some and that circle closed
Thats it. Its a very nice way to make currency.
BUT..... breaches are pretty random and are very easy in the beginning. From cruel and onwards breachlords can spawn and will make your life terrible since you can't really kill them unless you do insane damage, the more you damage them, the more splinters you get when the breach closes. When you collected a 100 splinters you can open a portal with them and fight the breachlord for good loot.
That fight is hard though! I never did it yet because breaches scare the shit out of me haha.
I'm playing hardcore and i'm about to ding level 93.
I died 7 times this league and 6 times was in a breach. HF
