I've gotta say, I kinda like Hive as the villain. He's genuinely creepy, very powerful, but also somewhat charismatic. I wonder who'll get the axe in season finale.... (though I'd prefer it if they didn't make such a fuss over it beforehand). Aside from the new guys (Yo-yo and the other Inhuman whose name I can't remember), who would be a bit of a let down, considering they wouldn't really be missed by the audience at this point, I can't really name anyone whose absence wouldn't be felt. And there's couple of characters with concluded arcs (like May or Fitz/Simmons in a way). Even Daisy isn't exactly safe. I doubt they'd kill her off, her being the protagonist, Quake and all that, but the show has been known to shock.

So the super advanced Kree, don't have some ray guns or shit? I also loved the awesome plan they had to take out Hive. When Coulson said "take the shot!", May should've replied "fuck you Coulson you retard".
Yeah, I thought it was a moronic ep after the last one which was very good.

This episode was indeed
That was the best of Kree and the best of S.H.I.E.L.D?
But I suppose it's network TV after all and fearsome alien hunters translate into 2 dudes with blue makeup.

I actually thought they'd use that ball to awaken/call another ancient inhuman to kick hive's ass. Instead, we get two pumped up smurfs. Coulson's 'plan' made no sense at all to me. It's like sending your footsoldier to take down a tank with a butter knife.

I suppose he must really hate smurfs In all seriousness, though, I guess most information we had about the artifact was from Hive and his view was distorted by fear. He remembers Kree as his creators and remembers the torture they inflicted upon him, so it does kinda make sense he'd consider them the biggest threat to himself - even if they aren't. The ball still feels like a dissapointng waste of screen time, however. It would be better if, at the very least, they posed any kind of danger to him, which they clearly didn't. Seems the Kree suck at making backup plans
And yeah, Coulson's plan wasn't very bright either. If it were so easy to take down Hive, what would they even have to be worried about? One well placed assassin could solve all their problems in the span of a few hours. It's not like Hive is incredibly careful or has tremendous human resources - just a few Inhumans who usually aren't even in the same place.

Ep20 - Good one but after the reveal everything happened too quickly and easy like they were in a hurry to wrap up.

I actually understood the pacing. It was their last resort, that guy on a rampage could kill everyone there, Daisy included. Afterwhat happened in the last ep, taking that chance was much easier.

SHIELD was so fucking incompetent this season. Someone should've told Coulson to step down a while ago. I tought this season had very bad writing, especially the later parts. I also miss Bobbi, she went just when she got good. Hive/Ward walking around in his long coat trying to be ominous was hilarious.
Average, and a bit uninteresting season in the end for me.

I liked it overall, but it was definitely weaker than season 2. Writing was off at times and some developments could've been done better. I did like Hive, however, I just wish we'd have gotten more of his real face, because he looked bloody awesome. I also wish he'd been a little more consistent, because occasional, random acts of violence/cruelty didn't really fit the the character's broader picture.
Solid finale.
Spoiler: | Tension was there, even though it was known someone would die. The cross was a nice touch - passing the death around, so to speak Last episode didn't need that "six months later" part, though. I felt it was... I don't know. A bit rushed? Felt out of touch with the rest of it. It seems Daisy - Quake now, for real - went full circle, back to her rebel roots. Not sure what to think about that, honestly. Robbing banks doesn't seem like the best way to honor somone's sacrifice.
Also, at the beginning of season one I criticized Chloe Bennet's acting skills. I take it back, her acting during Lincoln's death was quite good. Whole scene was quite nice, to be honest - strangely serene. |

Liked it overall as well. Hopefully Bobbi/Hunter return next season since their show got canceled (again). Also this is moving to a later timeslot so we might expect a slightly darker tone.

Good finale. I didn't like glitched Ward (not sure what they were going after) though.
The season perhaps wasn't as good as the previous one but it was ok overall. (And definitely better than how S1 started, remember that?? ) To properly do the Hive storyline they needed a bigger budget so that we get something different than those "zombies" or the 2 blue dudes we discussed before, but it is what it is.
The death of you know who was also predictably a very safe choice.
I'm quite pleased to see Dr. Radcliffe continue to be in the series. At first I thought he'd be in a couple of episodes' most and I was like "he seems like a nice character and actor I wish he would be in more" and in every new episode I was watching I was being surprised to see him be in it until I realized he's probably a regular. Let's see how hey treat the character in S4..

The death did nothing for me since it was horrendously predictable, that was a downer really. They really need to work on their writng skills (I thought it was very good in S2) and they need a much bigger budget. I think the Hive idea was worked out very badly, my dislike of the 'actor' might be part of it. Luckily, we're rid of him, thank god.

Well the budget isn't going to get any better. With each new season the ratings drop thus the budget drops and the actors can negotiate for better pay to keep working on the show thus they eat deeper into the budget. But for now it's not that bad (eg Arrow).
As for getting rid of Ward's actor the writers say "I'm sure there will be something [with him returning] in the future." http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/agents-shield-season-finale-deaths-895058
And the new timeslot is considered risky or perhaps it even shows that they don't particularly care if the next season is the final one. http://www.tv.com/shows/marvels-agents-of-shield/community/post/marvel-abc-agents-of-shield-season-4-final-season-146358913298/
| Quote: | | On Tuesday, when ABC released its fall 2016 schedule, it was revealed that the network had bumped the series from the 9pm hour, where it aired during Seasons 2 and 3, back to 10pm, a timeslot that has notoriously killed every single show the network has scheduled there since Body of Proof and Private Practice ended in early 2013. Of the six scripted series that have aired in the timeslot since, only Forever—which averaged 4.93 million viewers and a 1.12 rating—lasted a full season, and it was canceled despite being a charming and well-liked, if fairly vanilla, series because it was low-rated and produced by a non-Disney studio. Moving Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. back an hour in its fourth season could be seen as the network taking a chance that a show with a proven track record—even if that track record is only a few but loyal viewers—will fare better than a brand new endeavor. Or it could be the network killing the show quietly. |
