I have a HP laptop from around 2010, a core 2 duo with a 8400m gs chipset. It has a well known problem with garbled screen on startup every couple of weeks, it's because of Nvidia's shitty chipset slowly going bad because of overheating etc. About once a month it also shuts itself down due to overheating.
I am using this laptop on my lap (on a little wooden board) while lying on the bed. After long or heavy usage it gets very warm and is uncomfortable for me, especially in the summer.
Of course I am having none of these durability and heat problems with a 8" Android tablet I have. So my question is this, can I have a laptop with about an 15" screen that doesn't fucking heat up and can run Windows? Is there something that has only passive cooling? I don't need a fucking i5 fucking processor to surf the internet, watch movies, play/analyze chess...
Some quad core Atom or something?

Of course, there are plenty of these available.
Though does it really have to be 15"? I have a Lonovo Thinkpad (540p) and it is fucking huge! If I were you I'd prefer a 13". Take a look at the Asus UX305 with Core M processors. They are passively cooled, seem to run very cool, are very thin and look quite nice.
Just steer clear of the obvious shitty brands like Toshiba, Packard Bell, Samsung etc ...

What? Strange pricing! The ux305fa started at ~600€ or so here? And there should be more with similar low pricing
