Alpha state... I like it. Its like Radial-G (not the same guys, but my first thought was it has to be the same people behind it). There are more stuff to do than just drive fast (as you do in Radial-G) and I like the fact that when you jump you can look through the floor of the car and see what happens below you. I played fps perspective and not 3d person.
It need more work on the "feeling" of the car/hover, but the game has potential to become really fun.
No problem with sde and it felt very natural with the 3d.
Edit: What car needs is the feeling of being heavy. atm it feels light as hell.

So, for those of you who have a rift.....why did you decide to go with a Rift over a Vive?

I have both. Optics are better TO ME on the rift. The rift is much more comfortable and easy to put on. Plus I like their style of touch controls over the vive wands.

Got the vive because the dk2 desperately needed hand controls, that and valve didnt constantly lie to its customers like greedy assholes.

Because they were the first, and are the ones who made VR finally happen,
Because some games I play are only Oculus compatible (for now),
Because I will mainly use VR in seated experience games (simulation, ...),
Because I don't want to push/pull the dinner table every 5 minutes to be able to play,
Because I don't trust HTC and also because they are about to go bankrupt anytime soon,
Because better comfort,
Because "better" lenses,
Because ... "cheaper",
Because I wanted an Xbox One gamepad anyway
Although I don't like:
The fucking price,
The fucking Oculus YetAnotherStore,
The fucking exclusives fucks,
The fucking missing Touch controllers.
I will complete the both lists after testing it for a while
I may switch to Vive if/when games support and VR experience happen to be better than the Rfit in games I actually play.

Most of the same reasons as Silent_Lurker.
I will say I had also been following Oculus for a long time and the vive came out of left field towards the end of the race.

I bought both.
Vive should be here tomorrow according to FedEx
I got both for various reasons:
To invest in the idea of VR, not so much the companies that made each. The whole "Speak with your wallet" concept. Granted not buying rift because of the over hype (or dirty lies depending on how you stand on it) makes sense, to me its cutting of the nose to spite the face.
Other companies are watching, to see if its a fad, or an area to leap into. So while I dont agree with everything oculus did, I agree with showing that VR is worth investing in to have more competition.
Because while both are VR, their gimmick angle on it is different for each. Vive's gimmick focus is roomscale, so most games for it will play up to that. Rift is seated experience. While both can do the others to some degree fine. They will both play up to what their 'claim to fame experience' on VR is for a year or so until its played out.
To have one of each of the 'first' generation VR sets for keepsake. Much like I still got the Nintendo power glove, and virtuaboy (some where in a box in the garage).
So I can give my son whichever of the 2 I grow bored of the fastest in a few months so he can have one.

Thats cool, but I'm not seeing a lot of valid reasons in that list.
They promoted vr first but didnt bring touch, how does being first matter?
Vive can be used seated, what prevents you from sitting down?
You trust palmer and facebook after all their backpeddling and lies?
Cheaper? Barely, and without motion control that can also be used seated.
Comfort, lenses etc much of muchness.
Also supporting a company that are paying for exclusives = screwing yourself over.

The rest I cant comment on, as the are mostly opinions on which side you are on.
But this one I can.
Because you can sit down in it, doesn't mean until its 'wore thin' of being used it wont be built into it as a part of the vive experience into games.
Im assuming that 90% of the games made for the vive, the devs are going to go crazy trying to implement "oooh look you can walk around a small space!" into them, even in games that dont need it, but can be added. Since its a 'thing' vive offers as its exclusive perk.
I mean look at the games/demos made so far, vast majority of them play up using it in some capacity and since its made into it, if roomscale isnt big enough for you to use, you lose a bit of the intent of the game devs vision that played to roomscale.
So while you CAN sit with the vive, most games made for it will try to exploit that option of moving around to some degree "because we can!". Seated experience games wont be the norm in it for a while, until customers get to the point of "yea yea, we get it, I can walk 2 feet that way and touch things".
