Ridley Scott is reteaming with The Martian screenwriter Drew Goddard to direct an adaptation of the 2013 novel "Wraiths of the Broken Land".

The premise is:

Quote:
Wraiths Of The Broken Land is a Western, set near the Mexican border at the turn of the previous century. A group of men assemble and storm across the badlands to find their captive sisters, doing anything they deem necessary to achieve their goal. Lives, ethics and sanity are imperiled during the wild, brutal struggle that ensues and nobody is safe.

The novel is written by S. Craig Zahler, screenwriter and director of Western Bone Tomahawk.

The film is currently undated as Scott is still busy making Alien: Covenant.

TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"

So Much Win

When Ridley Scott was at Comic Con a few years back for the Blade Runner panel, one of the audience members asked if there was any genre that he wanted to do that he had yet to tackle.

His answer was a western, and ever since then I've been hoping that he would do one.

This is great news (assuming the book isn't a giant piece of shit?)

I like to watch nice western movies, so call me interested.

@cirithungol
The book seems to have good ratings:

That in no way reflects how the movie will turn out though sadly. grinhurt

Too bad Eastwood doesn't make western movies anymore. Sad

Noir and ultra-violence, I'd say the premises are good Razz (and Bone Tomahawk was pretty damn entertaining)
I'm not much of a book reader (can't tell for instance whether The Martian was a good adaption or not), but I did enjoy the final result, despite some minor flaws here and there. Good ol' Ridley still got it Smile
