Yes but in that case map design should be totally different compared to those 16-64 players maps. I'm sure that could work if all the platforms were on the same line. Now when you need to make sure that each console can run it on 30 FPS with low graphics and without creating separate versions which would be way too costly for them to maintain.

And here I am, playing 16-32 player servers so I don't get shot from 8 sides, if you guys think that's fun, go for it, I won't.

Haha nah, the target audience is completely different, as well as the rendition of the battlefield itself (slow/realistic mechanics vs fast-"oomph-ish"/arcadish feel). Battlefield as always will compete with other AAA games; Verdun, RO2, Squad and the likes are in a league of their own. Very Happy

I only play on 32 player servers in BF games. 64 player servers are full of so many retards and you get killed by random shit at every step.

Yeah by now I already lost faith in DICE, those exclusivity contracts with XBONE are an insult. Battlefield 4 in its current state (pretty solid I must admit) will have to do for the next few years when it comes to militaristic shooters.

Think of the bandwidth and criticality of calculating and keeping everything in sync.128 Players is not trivial.

Or worst case scenario, they took over the Battlefront skills indeed, that'd be an instant killoff for me.

That's great! No more faggots using jets/air vehicles as personal taxicabs and jumping out.

This feature, along with the no "lock on" weapons, are the only good things to come out of this shit show though.

Figures they'd finally add the two features I've been pining for since Battlefield Vietnam, yet there are no fucking helicopters to enjoy them with. The cruel fucking irony in that is just too sadistic for me. Mad

Looks interesting enough. Good to see a different setting. But that name? Battlefield 1??? Confused
They should have named it Battlefield World War I, The First World War or 1914 (and leaving a few years for possible future sequels) Very Happy

I'm guessing there might be two reasons they avoided those types of names:
1) It probably doesn't poll well with customers. It doesn't seem like games that focus on older history are particularly attractive to the average gamer. Some people like them, but it's mostly niche. So while the setting itself might be really interesting to them, they have a negative reaction at first. Having a more neutral name allows to let the game speak for itself, instead of the name tainting the average gamer's perception of the game. (Damn normies and etc etc)
2) Since they're adding their own twist to the setting, it's not terribly accurate to use those names. It's not World War I/The First World War/1914. It's their own version of those things, it's not an accurate representation. Having the "1" allows them to allude to this setting while still giving them room to breathe and do their thing.
(Secret 3: Microsoft paid them a billion dollars to name it after their console and advertise the Xbox One everywhere IT'S A CONSPIRACY)

The truth is the name only matters when marketing the game. Once people play it, they really don't care what its named. We constantly change the name of the games we play because we're lazy and don't want to name them fully. For us, they're just an icon.

So instead of going for something unique, they decided to go for something that was bland, but would attract as many clueless gamers as possible.
And because MS bribed them.

Sounds and looks like Battlefield 4 (average) + Battlefront (mediocre) in WWI.

Trains, zeppelins, ships, you say? Well I say AT-AT, imperial walkers, X-Wing, A-Wing...! Get my... drift?
