Oh hell yeah! Almost there! While I did finish a playthrough on the japanese version, I didn't do all bosses and I'm sure there are multiple endings as usual, so really looking forward to the english release to start for real.
Made a few more screenshot stitch wallpapers in the meantime
These 2 from early game areas again:
Spoiler:
And this one from later on, so don't open it yet and play first :-)
Spoiler:
oh and a special one, not a stitch and just a normal screenshot, but I acquired a certain armor from dark souls 1 and photoshopped the colors a bit. It's not really spoiling anything other than showing that you can acquire that armor in DS3, but as a DS1 fan you're bound to recognize it and get a kick out of it :P

Good morning, my CE just arrived.
First impressions, headshot?
Hey sorry for the delay responding! I would like to say its because I was playing Dark Souls 3 but since I turned the game off I slept for around 5 hours and did a 9 hour shift at work.
My first session lasted 6.5 hours which is as long as I could make it given the time I needed to get to sleep by! That 6.5 hours was nothing short of amazing mixed with occasional awe and interspersed frustration. This is a Souls game through and through, Im in my element and there is no disappointment from me of that I am certain.
First and foremost the visuals are stunning! I can't stop slowing moving towards and away from light sources just to see the dynamic light refracting, the way the glowing ember effect snakes across my knight's armour and sparks fly through the air whilst sprinting had me all gooey inside! The gameworld is vast and equally gorgeous with some typically awesome From environments and sprawling locations. Its just so damn beautiful!
The combat is fast and feels more fluid like Bloodborne than Dark Souls. Ok there is no dash but it definitely doesn't have the slow clunkiness of Dark Souls 2. Im pretty crap at timing the parry move but its immensely satisfying when successful. I need to work on that. I sometimes think Im playing Bloodborne and when hit, will try and retaliate immediately to reclaim lost health but its not Bloodborne and it never works lol.
So far the framerate is also surprisingly stable and I have had zero issues even when there is plenty of action on screen. Its clearly the engine that powers Bloodborne and I just keep comparing it as a result. I have been wondering if there is something similar to the Chalice dungeons which would be super cool but again its Dark Souls and not Bloodborne and if that existed Im sure I would know about it already.
Im feeling immense pressure to grind and farm in order to upgrade and never know where to spend my hard earned souls. Difficulty wise, I thought the early bosses were quite easy for a souls game and I didnt get slaughtered as many times as I would have expected. Its a solid title, an early contender for GOTY and Im going with a 9/10 so far
Got two days off work now so Im looking to put some serious hours into this. Unfortunately Destiny and The Division got signifant updates and the new DLC is out for Fallout 4 now too! :/
Nice preview, headshot!
No chalice dungeons unfortunately, but I think they may have adopted some of DS2's NG+ changes (found a Ring +1 in NG+ in the jp version) so there may be some extra longevity from that.
I also still find myself going at it too aggressively at times, falling back into what I'm used to from a year of Bloodborne.
As for framerates, I notice the frame pacing issues mentioned in DF's video but only have actual noticeable slowdown in 1 or 2 areas in the game. There's one scene where a ton of skeletons run around and it slows when I looked at it but it's not a real issue in normal gameplay.
Overall it runs fine, I can stomach the framepacing issues and rare slight slowdown, especially being already used to it from Bloodborne.
I can understand if it's annoying for people though, and the frame pacing should really be fixed. They seem to be close enough to a fully stable 30FPS so why not go all the way, can't take a lot more effort from here.
Bottom line though, there hasn't been any slowdown in critical situations in my 80 hours with the game so far (jp version included). I have not died to technical problems, only my own failings, and once I jumped into an area that looked like you could land there but you could not, I split that 50-50 between me and the game

VaatiVidya - famed for his Dark Souls lore videos - has made a video pointing out 15 useful hidden mechanics in Dark Souls 3, which any player can make use of. For instance: you can hold down on the D-pad to automatically switch your item slot back to Estus, you can press R3 for a preview of what armour will look like on you, and having different covenants equipped changes both your appearance and the rewards you get for invading.

For me, the environments are so interesting and beautiful from the get-go that I can't help but be drawn in immediately. I want to know more about the world, about what the hell is going on and why, about what happened that led it to be like it is now, etc.
Miyazaki's tastes are just right up my alley it seems. Most game worlds these days just look generic and boring to me and don't draw me in, but Miyazaki never disappoints.
On another note, god damn those covenant items, man... what a pain in the ass.
Either you're forced to PVP (if the covenant you're trying to farm the items for works properly, which not all of em do) or you farm the same 3 enemies or whatever for hours on end with a 2% drop rate of the item you need 30 of. lol
Wasn't it in DS2 where covenant spells and such were available to buy in NG+ and beyond?
I think I'm just gonna forget about that crap and hope they'll buff drop rates at some point or something.
Can't stand the PVP. With the lag and the healing and disconnecting it's just an infuriating experience for me.
Of course it's all just for the trophy so not exactly required but damn it just annoys me haha
I'm really just into the PvE part of Soulsborne.
-edit-
I just ragequit for the first time in DS3 after 160 hours when for the third time in a row my opponent disconnected while I was trying to invade for those fucking covenant items.
Fuck it, I'm done with PVP
