Boogeyman was quite scary Razz (cheap riftgame on steam). The amazing part is, I actually jumped in my chair even before the actual game started...but not so much while in the game though Sad

Edit: I really recomend it...cheap and simple gameplay...but great scares Very Happy

Just got the Rift. Initial impressions = awesome gear. But much much more "glare" than the Vive.

Is it a lot more comfortable compared to the vive. And how does the SDE compare?

I know you asked OrignalSpaceJokey that question since he has Vive too...however, as a Oculus owner must say that the SDE is pretty much totally gone. Atleast I havent noticed it and I play VR games daily.

More impressions:

The good
- HMD is more comfortable and the headphones are great
- Easier to just pick up and play
- Lyckys Tale is amazing

The Bad
- Extreme "glare" and godrays when white text and stuff is on black background
- Outside visible where the nose is on the HMD

Only tried for like 20 minutes.

But you cant really compare them. Two totally different experinces. Room scale always wins in my book Smile

EDIT: Gonna be really interesting when Oculus Touch releases Smile

SDE is exactly the same on Vive and Rift. You see it in the beginning but after a while you wont notice it.

Thanks OrignalSpaceJokey.

Your two bad points are what I've been reading also and seem there for everyone.

I remember the nose gap on the DK2, i'm guessing it's about the same. People are using it to look down at their keyboards ect.. maybe my bigger nose will fill the gap more Very Happy
I think there will be a mod for that sooner or later. The Vive was heavy and uncomfortable at times but it fit very well and blocked out 100% light for me which was a excellent.

On the Vive i can see the SDE in some scenes but i can also see the Fresnel lense rings clearly as well. Not a killer as you lose yourself in the experience and all is awesome again.

Room scale is as you say the winner. It's a total game changer but not in my man cave Sad
When the touch comes out i will have the complete package for my setup i believe. Room scale is a no no so the Vive was wasted on me.

Keep your thoughts and impressions coming guys. and SpaceJockey, try some porn man it's awesome Very Happy

The Rift HMD hurts a bit on the face after a while and your face looks like the Oculus logo Laughing

Would not recommend using the Rift just before you pick up your kids at daycare.. Very Happy

I read about this, people are saying it's fitted wrong if you are getting the oval mark.
They say to fit the headset without cable attached and take tension off the side straps. Can't remember exactly but there was posts on Reddit. Worth checking.

Back triangle low on back of head and side straps loose.

@Silent Lurker

It's a real kick in the balls isn't it? Us who pre ordered should be of the upmost importance. How far are they into the pre orders, 20 - 30 minutes? And now pop into a shop and pick one up if your quick!

I see, sorry just remembering back what i read. I guess there is no need as the cable is supposedly light unlike the Vive's.

lol 20 to 30 mins? Try like 6:30 mins..... That's 6 mins and 30 seconds after pre order went live. Think about that for a second.

I was gonna tell you there is an iso of it out Wink - trust me it is worth buying - lmk how the Ethan Carter one works out, I might get subnautica next haha

iOMoon is not bad at some points and that new free demo they posted last night (forgot the name) - where you are chained to the wall controlling a little knight on the opposite side - interesting concept.

Hey guys,

I really have never tried any of the rifts and would like to know what it's like compared to a monitor in terms of picture quality, is it still hard to see anything far away? Like, could you land a plane on a carrier in a game like bf 1942?

I'm really thinking about buying one but am somewhat puzzled about if it will still be worth it when the novelty hipe wears off.

As pointe out earlier - Windlands is a really wellmade and good game. Smile

Vanishing Of Ethan Cartan Vr Is really good looking, but I felt some screendoor effect in it (had lots of stuff running so that might be it).
Insade Decay Of Mind...no...dont get this one. Crap.

Very Happy
