Tested the demo and all i can say it's a shame but this is not for me.
I liked the trailers and was looking forward for this but it's not fun for me, just like i didn't enjoy the Souls games.
too weird, summoning cute puppies and dolphins? i like weird sometimes but here it looks too stupid and out of place, the monsters / bosses(?) looks really bad too.
Like Onimusha setting you mean? Since combat in Onimusha 3 wasn't as nearly as brutal as in Nioh. To me it's just a different Souls like game and i sadly can't enjoy these games.
Though Nioh’s been in development since 2005, the samurai-flavoured action RPG’s game mode feature is pretty progressive. Before loading the game players can choose either movie mode, focused on looking as pretty as possible, or action mode, sacrificing graphical fidelity in favour of maintaining a steady frame rate.
Reminds me of G-Police, which allowed you to adjust a slider between "framerate" and "draw distance" -- you could crank the draw distance right up but framerate would tank, or you could crank framerate up but not be able to see more than 2m in front of your face due to culling and pop-in

Wow, a few months ago I thought it was just another of recent Team Ninjas Ninja Gaiden copypastas, but it actually does look like a proper Souls game, with even more punishing enemies, also the main campaign alone without sidequests is supposed to take 40+ hours the first time, count me fucking interested!
Finished the beta and got that special DLC as reward
Damn the game is tough, at the beginning it was much more difficult than the souls games, until
I figured everything out.
This is the first great souls clone, it plays very well and is alot of fun, dont forget to use action mode for dat 60 fps

edit: lol ok tried my nz account -> its free there. strange fuckers to make it ps plus exclusive in germany
edit: meh, actionmode looks like ass but runs fluffy. videomode looks a bit better but is unplayable 30fps crap and that thing between both is the worst ever.
It seems it's actually really good. It's a bit of a surprise for me, to be honest. Gravity Rush 2, this, Yakuza 0... The PS4 is really rocking it with exclusives right now. And there's still Horizon on... Well, the horizon
