So, its 2:30AM, there I am lying in bed trying to fall asleep. Then, just as I remenice on how shitty the day was, I here this deafening POP. I sit up startled, and look over to see my PC simply billowing fucking sparks out of the back.
I run over, and cut the power, and then just sit there for a good 10 minutes, stunned, shocked, and just utterly mind fucked.
I then take a moment to thank the gods that my PC wasn't about 4 inches to the left, else I'm sure my wall posters would be on fookin fire by now.
In 12+ years of owning PCs, I have NEVER had my power supply blow the fuck up.
Needless to say, I didn't get any fuckin sleep last night as I was busy trying to air out the smell of burned plastic/silicon/whathaveyou from my room the entire night, not to mention I was somewhat worried the thing would burst into flames even though I cut the power.
Now, my question to you is, just how do I determine how utterly fucked my 6mo old $2k rig is? I'm guessing I plug in another PSU and pray, then swap components until it works? Or is there a particular diagnostic program I can use?
And before I forget, FUCK YOU ENERMAX. $200 600Watt power supply and it blows out after 6 fucking months, nearly starting a fire, most likely fucking my system to all hell, and scaring me shitless. I don't want their fucking warranty. I don't want a fucking exchange. They can take their fucking product and shove it up their fuckin arse. I'm sending the unit back, along with a BILL of whatever else that fucking supply fucked in my rig. They pay, or I fucking sue, as this is completley unacceptable.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't shooting fucking electrical sparks out the back and onto wall/desk/carpet not conform to SOME safety standard of some sort? I mean FUCK.
So here I am, exam day, with semester break starting in two days, dead fucking tired, with the fate of my system as yet unknown.

I would start with just the mainboard connected.
If it still works chances are good the rest is still intact...
really sucks. I had that before, too.
nothing else died... lucky me... :/

i had 2 of my psus screw up, but luckily the rest of the hardware was always intact,
now with a 600W one, i dunno...

I lived! Buddy brought over a spare 450 Antec, hooked it up and all was good, apart from one little wierd glitch.
On bootup it gave a "Cannot find NTLDRV" error or something of that sort. Booted via xp cd, checked partions and rebooted, and all was fine.
I'm oh so fuckin relieved right now, I could soil myself 
I'd like to take this opportunity to give a closing FUCK YOU to Enermax. If I wanted fireworks, Id use the motherfuckin booth down the road.
Let this be a lesson to you though....price !=quality (at least in this case).

Hi,
I've had that "Cannot Find NTLDR", it was my own fault deleted some stuff i shouldn't have.
But yeah the file is something to do with the master boot or the format of your partion, but either way i never got it back. I tired using the Win xp cd and doing a MBR, didn't work, tried copying the file back over, still didn't work, in the end i had to reformat and ended up losing every thing i had on the drive.

I have had a cheapass 350W Q-Tec (peak power output that is, it can only generate 160W continuously) in my second system for years, my guess is it will light up like a Christmas tree within a year

For anyone that may be interested for future reference, I solved the Cannot Find NTLDR error
It turns out that somehow my BIOS had scrambled the boot order for my 3 HD's. One of my file storage (non OS ones) had boot priority 1, thus when it looked for the NTLDR file, it could not find it, as it was on my main drive (boot priority 3).
Still had to reformat....but thank you lord the nightmare is over.
However, now I'm fucking scared to go for a pissbreak without my room catching on fuck fire. I've been scarred for life

Shit... I got a Enermax, only couple of months old too.
I looked up "gormless" in the dictionary, it said "without gorm" .... so i looked up "gorm" but it wasn't there ????
