Weird... I remember the earlier PC releases of this game (normally I am playing pinball games on my mobile device) and they were about 1,7 GB in size.
Now the recent release is 5,4 GB - hard to believe they added so many new tables for such growth in size....

Seems that SKIDROW has mistakenly included their previous update Pinball.FX2.Build.230414.incl.DLC.exe with this release which is 1.81 GB. That leaves the new update at 3.62 GB which is still abnormal size increase for just 5 new tables. But taking a look at the recent patch notes explains it:
Quote:
- Greatly improved music and sound quality – increased sample rate and added stereo channels (hence the increased size of the game)
As for it being standalone, it still wants you to point it to the original Pinball FX2 directory. Though the update includes all the game files except "Pinball FX2.pdb" in the root directory. I tried to play few tables with that file removed and it seemed to work fine. Not sure what it's needed for or what problems it may cause for not having it but I guess in theory you can just install this update without having Pinball.FX2-SKIDROW installed. Kind of awkward having to need 1 GB ISO just for that 40 MB file.
edit: That .pdb file might actually be useless, from Wikipedia:
Quote:
Another use of PDB files is in services that collect crash data from users and relate it to the specific parts of the source code that cause (or are involved in) the crash.
PDB files are usually removed from the programs' distribution package. They are used by developers during debugging to save time and gain insight.
It may come out "officially" tomorrow, but it has seemingly been available to Yarr users for several days now.
Pinball.FX2.Aliens.vs.Pinball-HI2U
4.7GB and contains all the existing tables as well. Or, failing that, you could just install the free Steam demo version and use a Steam emulator to unlock all the tables there as well -- including the Aliens ones
Anyone know how to get cabinet mode in pirated version of pinball fx3? Got my code from the developer but did not dear to link the account so could not use the code.
