It makes sense to hate a game because it's not finished and there's no "proof" in the earlier stages of development?
I can't agree, but whatever.
Anyway, as I said - there's no reason to try and convince people who don't want to be convinced. This is one of those games that feels good to hate if you're a petty person. It's a big and easy target - and since development is open, all their decisions are visible and ripe for criticism - whether you understand them or not.
The Hump has quite a few grumpy whiners bitching about everything and nothing - and Star Citizen is a prime target. That's just how it's going to be until it's either released or cancelled. |
For fuck sake. It's been in the early stages for faaar too long already.

It's beenin 'alpha' longer than the vast majority of other so called AAA games - the successful ones I might add.
But of course, it's more 'technical'. It's a Vision® which just needs more time. It's not a typical PC game. Etc etc.
I swear this game has had more excuses thrown at it than all tax dodgers worldwide could ever come up with. (intended link.) Oddly enough, among it's more rampant members of the SDL are those with such RSI forum titles such as 'Grand Admiral', 'High Admiral' and 'Admiral'. Coincidence shirly?

They've got your money now, why would they give it back? There's new sofas and coffee machines to buy, you entitled shitlord, you just don't know how development works, educate yourself and deal with it. #StarCitizen4lyf2k16yoloswag

Oh and a recent update regarding the state of the game from Smart;
http://www.dereksmart.org/forums/topic/star-citizen-extinction-level-event/#post-3131
Say what you want about Smart, he consistently makes excellent points about the state - and future - of the game. He may be a massive troll who creates abysmal titles and bans people that criticises them, but he's right on the money with Star Scamizen at the moment.

It's interesting, because what you've done in their reality is donated money to a project, what they call 'pledging'. Which is the exact reason they did it that way - you're not entitled to a refund because you've not actually bought anything. Even the slick Roberts had this to say a while back:
Quote: | "We don't have to [give refunds]. The terms of the agreement mean we don't," Roberts continued. "We're developing [the game], so we can't be in a position where we automatically have to refund people's money. That's how we pay salaries. If we can't spend the money we get we can't make the game. We don't want people to get the impression that it is automatic because it is completely discretionary on our part." |
Source: http://mstarsnews.musictimes.com/articles/81267/20150824/star-citizen-kickstarter-backers-pledge-refunds-offered-due-gameplay-release.htm (bit of an odd place to find a story about a game bet hey ho)

Oh btw, no idea if you guys ever saw this, but RSI forums even have a rule where discussing the game in anything other than a positive light is actually a thing:
Quote: | forum rule 3 d):
(d) Starting threads on controversial topics simply to generate an argument is forbidden. |

That changed as well, people have started complaining to the BBB and CIG responded with what amounts to "we've earned said Customer's money because we've spent years in development"
So that's it... you're not paying for a product, you're just giving away free money on someone's dream and tough shit. Pretty much like all the KS apologists bleat whenever the topic comes up. No wonder the US government is starting to crack down on crowdfunding, because it's more and more looking like a way to con free money out of people without any obligation.

'Quite a lot'
I weigh 19st 3lb. I was originally 20st 3lb (about a month ago). I've lost quite a lot of weight. My actual goal is 12st. But it's ok, it's an ongoing project, it might take longer than usual, but take comfort in the fact that 'quite a lot' is an important milestone.

Yup.. CIG have started saying "quite a lot" and "substantial portion" as a shield to deflect criticisms. Hell, we've even got fanatics on this board claiming SC currently has more content than ED. I mean.. what...? What...? What...?
Smart expands on that too, thanks to the latest 10fC which claims they're now aiming at an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) in order to "prove" they've hit commercial status.
Quote: | 5) A “Minimum Viable Product” essentially means that they could add shops (to sell more stuff, instead of actually adding relevant gameplay features) in the upcoming 2.4 patch, fix a few bugs, and call it a full and final commercial release. Why is this relevant? Well, once they released the shoddy mPU 2.0 back in Dec ’15, precisely as I said (in Oct ’15) they would, they started using that as an excuse to deny refunds, saying that it represents a “substantial portion” of the game promised.

There, I have just released the first version of my new XcellentWing vs T-fighters game. It has quite a lot of content as you can see, and in the near future I'll be adding other gameplay enhancements, such as controls and possibly colour. If you pledge $100 right now, I'll even let you have your very own DeathMoon®...

Remember that Seinfeld episode where George pretends to have a house in the Hamptons and he keeps going on and on with the lie rather than just admit he wasn't telling the truth in the first place? Star Citizen is kind of like that but instead of the people knowing they are being lied to, they actually believe and give them money. So the lie grows and grows but so does their complicity/culpability in the lie so they are invested. Even if it gnaws at them and they know what they are doing is morally wrong they can't stop anymore. At first it was probably exciting getting millions and millions just for making up a fantasy about a game but I bet it wears on you having to constantly lie

You could criticize the game on social media and some higher profile forums/sites (make sure to tag them). They'll happily give you a refund even if you didn't ask for it.

You know... that's a very interesting point. I never checked if I had to pay VAT - I don't think so as I was a kickstart backer, but if you do now on a 'pledge'... that is very odd indeed.
