Since the release of the newest Z170 boards, i've bought this ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming board and everything's mounted correctly.

The CPU Fan i used all this time is a Thermaltake Frio OCK (1200-21000RPM). This Fan has a little "Knob" known as the PWM controller to control the fan speed whenever i want by opening the tower/case and turning it around.

In my previous board, an ASUS P8Z68-V PRO, it was always at the minimum or at a conventional speed/noise aspect... However, the Z170 board, if i set it to PWM mode in the BIOS it'd run around 1600PWM..At "DC" (Direct Control?) it'd go from 1600-2100RPM.. And that's now how the PWM at the CPU Fan is set as, wich is minimum.

I wanted to know if there is a way to tell the BIOS that i tooootally want to use the PWM from the CPU Fan in my way and not the BIOS way.

Thanks in advance

I just set up a automatic temp based fan control using speedfan. Can just do it manually there too. As soon as you start up speedfan, it overrides whatever the bios does to the fan.

I hate you.

As far as I know, you need to specifically configure SpeedFan to override BIOS controls before it starts working properly. At least for automatic speed control.

Silent PC Review had a decent guide I think:

Also, I honestly don't know how you Google things - "speedfan tutorial" gives buttloads of useful results.

Too bad that Fan Xpert is not possible to adjust fan speed depending on temp sensor on the graphics card for the case fans. Only motherboard/cpu temperatures are possible sources...

MSI's BIOS and software solutions have the same CPU/System temps limitation, which is also disappointing.

Not much out there that allows you to tie your fan speeds to any available sensor. I think Corsair Link has that option, but it isn't that great. SpeedFan is the only other I know of. Not very user friendly, but lots of options to play with.
