Yeah. I started playing before I knew about any of this nonsense and I thought it was pretty good, but after I learned about the SJW stuff I just can't bring myself to continue.

Someone needs to mod this game into something "normal". I mean how ridiculous will it be if you play BG -> BG:SoD -> BG2 but the characters suddenly fall "out of character" while in SoD.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

The moral of this story: never frag with your potential customers (aka the people most likely to buy your product), never antagonize them.
I wonder how many SJW bought this marvel of expansion. Because we all know that they are really big spenders and consumers of the very products that they criticize.

Lol, yeah, I imagine plenty of the people praising it on Twitter, etc. probably don't even know what Baldur's Gate is, or at the very least never played it.

Unfortunately, GOG decided that we can't have originals, unless we buy the Enhanced Editions. Only this month, the original games will still available for sale separately. So, yeah, the whole thing bites.

I'd suggest that would be a publisher decision, not GOG's.

As usual, the anti-GG team is focusing on one single aspect of it and ignoring the very large picture. This is how Anita does it as well - zoom in on 3x3 pixels as it suits her agenda and ignore the 4HD image. .
In this case, the point is NOT the transgender character. The point is that the writer is clearly trying to push her own agenda without caring at all about how it affects the game's lore or about what the fan base wants + she clearly has some very biased ideas when she bashes the original game unfairly.
When your game has topics like slavery, racism, and other typically conservative values in a world that has such a medieval influence not to mention many old traditions, I think it's only natural that other conservative ideas are left in like most women still being housekeepers and not being fighters, gay people not being commonly accepted, etc. It anything, it's a reminder of how things used to be. If you write a book set in 1200, will you allow for open gay characters as well? Of course you wouldn't!
SJWs always throw in the "well magic isn't realistic either" argument which is utterly nonsense - magic fits the game's lore so you can't compare it to that. It would be more like having a laser rifle into Baldur's Gate.

There will be no doubt be much wailing and gnashing of teeth at the lack of trannies in Kingdom Come Deliverance.

There already was (still is... >_>) over the lack of "PoC" in it, so yeah, the release of KCD is going to be constant source of hilarity.

I'm a big reader of historical fiction. I actually see a lot of authors shoving "progressive" plot elements into their books.
As an example, I recently read a novel set in Italy during the mid 14th century. The author actually put in female mercenaries fighting as men-at-arms.

Yeah, and black people in roles they would never have at the time (ship captain, wealthy merchant, etc.) - that's a very common thing too. In the Ascension series, they made a black guy second in command and made some references to his race but even then it felt unrealistic. Since the ship was launched years before the racial changes and they clearly are still ingrained in the culture of the 50's, it's not realistic for them to have a black guy being second in command.
In some way I can understand since you can't alienate your audience too much (you still make them speak modern English too, after all) but you can hardly get away with making someone a transgender in a time where there's no modern medicine. Good luck finding a surgeon or hormone pills in medieval times
In the end, it's lore (and realism) versus ... well, versus SJWs I guess.
Also, slightly off-topic: kinda funny how Janine in Ghost Busters was a smart wise-cracking woman full of spirit and they changed her into a dumb hunk of a male who clearly is only there for his looks.

I wonder, how much they were paid for this?
Now re-downloading previous versions of BG:EE and BG2:EE.

http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/269510/To_build_a_new_Baldurs_Gate_Beamdog_had_to_reverseengineer_the_original.php
Quote: | " All of the Baldur’s Gate original assets like the 3D models that make up these sprites, the 3D models for the levels in the original game, these archives were lost. There was a data tape in some guy’s garage, and it flooded, and it was gone. There goes the history of Baldur’s Gate."
- Beamdog lead designer Phillip Daigle.
After more than a decade, there's a new Baldur's Gate Infinity Engine game on the market -- sort of.
Developed by Beamdog's Overhaul Games, Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear is out this week as an expansion pack for its 2012 remake, Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition.
What's intriuing about that, especially for history-minded game developers, is that Beamdog basically had to reverse-engineer BioWare's original 1998 game Baldur's Gate in order to develop new material for the remake after nearly all of the original game's assets were deemed lost.
"I think we’re about 90-95% new code at this point," Beamdog president Trent Oster told Kotaku at a recent event, noting that the company sees its work remastering the old games as vital practice for creating new ones in the aging (if significantly modified) Infinity Engine. "To me, the Enhanced Editions [taught us how] to built content, to create content that fits."
Oster had previously acknowledged in a Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition postmortem that the studio had been unable to secure BioWare's original Baldur's Gate source art, forcing it to scrap the original plan to "remaster" Baldur's Gate in favor of remaking it outright ("We basically had to completely discard our plans and start anew after almost a year of negotiation.") Now some of the development team have shed more light on what that entails, exactly.
"In the original Baldur’s Gate, these cobble stone streets here, this was just a close up picture of coffee beans and they just repeated over and over again," Beamdog lead designer Phillip Daigle told Kotaku. "In ‘98 you had a 15 inch CRT, so you’re not going to notice or care probably. Nowadays when you’ve got an HD screen, you’re like, ‘Oh, those are coffee beans.’ We had to render out new streets and then lay them into the original 2D art and then paint over it. It was this whole process." |

Maybe they replaced some art assets to look better in highres but they didn't "reverse engineer" jack shit. |
This.
Pretty much the only things they did with EE was improve the rendering engine and add a zoom function.
Widescreen resolution has been possible with the IE engine for over a decade now due to the hard work of the modding community.

Lol yeah, the problem with the reviews is just the SJW shit, right. I checked out the reviews earlier today and they were basically about multiplayer being ultra-broken and general disagreement with the UI changes, combined with some bug reports, especially after their latest big update.
These mofos for some goddamn reason cannot get the game to a really stable state after all these years they are working on the codebase. And they can't get the multiplayer working properly.
That is the main reason for this Enhanced edition, to get the original games running fine on recent OS/hardware, the new content they added is just a grain of salt compared to the epic scale of the original campaigns anyway.

Yep. From now on the narrative will be that Dragonspear is the perfect game. No bugs or technical issues. The evil gators hate the game and you should buy it to fight the evil GG.

Beamdog are fucking stupid. How dumb do you have to be to cater to a group of people instead of just leaving politics aside and earn money and fame from both? I'm absolutely bewildered by this decision. Seriously hope their offices burn to ash. Also hope America goes North Korea soon so we don't have their idiotic culture infecting our own any more than it already has.

No, they are not.
And if you think that this whole shit is not working almost as intended, you are naive. The game will now get a huge promotion boost thanks to all the bullshit talk about a VERY sensitive subject.
Whatever happens here and now is a scumbag marketing campaign for a game that can't afford a typical one. They will do WHATEVER it takes to turn this into an advantage. And they will succeed. Haters and SJWs alike, through rants, discussions, critique and highlights will ensure (more or less), indirectly, the much wanted game sales.
Whatever happens here, it's really disgusting. And it's a damn shame that it revolves around my favorite game of all time.

They are stupid for being SJW's in the first place. Their hateful attitudes are plain disgusting. They're quite the hypocrites, and i always wondered why that hasn't been mentioned more. They claim we hate this and that, yet they seemingly hate every male in existence.

No no, they are stupid. You are giving them way too much credit. This isn't a case of 'marketing campaign' and if it were it would also make them stupid since... this one alienates the fans of the original by PUSHING an agenda. That vocal LGBT community and its crusaders are a minority even in their own community when you accept there is life outside the US (Well, California would be more accurate). So yeah... let's pander to that huge sale potential instead of a bigger audience.
So no, don't be naive thinking this is a genius marketeer move.
