Can't you do normal rolls in that armor, I'm pretty sure it was possible despite the high equipment load value but it required ring support and good stats.
(And you can't really do it all too often as the stamina drain is pretty high due to the weight of said armor.)

Come to think of it I guess it wouldn't work if you are using the actual Havel shield as well, or the uhh "weapon" he uses.

EDIT:
This be a DS3 spoiler.

Tell me, how do you deal with quick as lightning enemies by rolling or enemies that has 10 second attacks? :S
Roll? Parry? Poise break? basically.. game mechanics ? How can anyone attack for 10 seconds, or even more than 2-3 times, without getting parried lol

Great reviews so far: http://opencritic.com/game/1520/dark-souls-iii
Lowest:
- Lolygons 7/10 (ranting about PS4 perormance and thathey weren't surprised enough and were mad that you didn't go up an elevator through the bottom of a volcano that wasn't there before.)
- cubed3's 7/10 (ranting about not understanding i-frames and some of the core mechanics, and claiming LoTF got them better)
rest are mostly around 9/10 (the minuses are mostly just series fatigue and problems with camera+lockon )

These reviewers are funny:
Polygon - World design falls short, not enough expoloration and secrets.
Gamespot - Expert level design and ample secrets.
    IGN - Positive: "Excellent Exploration"

Scratch Head Scratch Head

^ direct quote
Quote:
. Furthermore, battle can be very black-or-white: parried? Congratulations! The enemy is dead. Messed up the parry? Bye-bye, big chunk of health. Realistic? Sure, but it leaves little room for experimentation, especially when it comes to boss fights. The main problem, however, lies in how it's sometimes impossible to understand why this or that didn't happen: "I rolled to avoid the beast, it touched me, I'm okay. I avoided its mace, it didn't seem to touch me, but I got hurt. Huh?!."
For all its flaws, Lords of the Fallen got this right - not because it was way easier, but because it felt… immediate. The sword on the screen found its target? Then the other guy will bleed - end of story. On the other hand, the trial-and-error required in Dark Souls III is the equivalent of jumping off a cliff a hundred times, before learning how to land without dying

Well, getting hit even when the enemy's weapon is a meter away from you is par of the course in DS games, not even mad at it anymore Laughing

Still, LOTF maybe was less "clunky" but also required less tactics and precise timing. I'll take DS combat system over LOTF's any day.

I don't want to make fanatics angry Smile but I completely agree with this reviewer. What he says cannot be explained with stuff like iframes or game mechanics and like he says in the review himself those are the things fanatics love to say to criticisms like this

Well i would understand complain like this in case of DS2 ,where if you had low adaptability, i was mess, but here in DS3 so far(ps4 review version) never noticed anything like that let alone something that was impossible to understand why that happened - always my fault of not being fast enough in reaction of enemy attack

Read again pax. That criticism is apparently valid for DS 2, but the reviewer is talking about Dark Souls 3, where people report that they don't see bullshit like it was in DS2.
