Shockingly, these shows are not the kind of cringe-inducing, poorly constructed embarrassments that usually typify gaming’s ill-advised past forays into live-action. Thanks to its cast of genuinely good actors, a script written by people who are writers rather than programmers, and even decent direction, Quantum Break‘s show is actually enjoyable.
Its special effects are lacking, and costume design leaves much to be desired (Monarch soldiers quite silly in real life), but I’d say the show is on par with high-end Internet video shows. It matches the kind of YouTube serials with impressive production values – not quite good enough for prime time TV, but definitely entertaining and slickly crafted enough to buy into as a viewer.

Sadly, the live action segments come to an abrupt end, gaining no conclusive episode after only a handful of appearances. Characters given the time to develop are quickly abandoned before the credits roll, given either half-hearted closure in the final portions of the game, or otherwise forgotten entirely.
Some of these problems are made worse through various decisions players make as Serene – with one instance potentially cutting a major character out of the loop without consequence. After so much impressive storytelling, the hurried and incomplete finale is disappointing.
It becomes clear that the TV stuff just isn’t as fleshed out as it could have been, and that the steam ran out before it was wrapped up efficiently. I can’t help feeling one other episode of the show was intended to be included before the final level, because the hurried way in which characters are written out or straight up forgotten is beyond noticeable.
At least the post-credit scene is fantastic.
As I suspected. Youtube production values and they couldn't afford to have as many as they wanted.

what is going on?!
1080p movies I am torrenting are usually about 8-12 gb max.
And I gues 720p would be enough for stupid cutscenes. They should leave choice to the player
Yeah, those ones are lowered bit rate rips from the actual Bluray discs. DL a "remux" and you have to DL around 30-50 GB.
So it's not as good as Alan Wake or Max Payne 1 and 2 and don't have the remedy feel of goofy tv shows ?
From the looks of it, it doesnt look like anything in first trailers. They've added shitty actors and commercialized everything

Is Quantum Break, with its meld of compelling gameplay, strong storyline and high-quality TV series, really the future of gaming? Yes, but maybe it'll be Quantum Break 2 (if there is one) that truly nails it 100%. If they dial back the gorgonzola, the product placement and adjust that cover mechanic, this could have been a perfect game.
But, for now, you've got the best-looking game on Xbox One, jam-packed full of familiar faces and top-notch acting, complemented by strong gameplay mechanics and a popcorn-crunching TV series.
Venture Beat 9/10
It’s too bad the experience is disrupted by the crashes, and I wish Remedy would learn how to deal with repetitious content. That was a big complaint with Alan Wake, and it has come around again. But it’s not as bad in this game. It didn’t annoy me that much, but I think it will drive some people to just go and watch the game on YouTube playthroughs, rather than deal with playing it themselves.
But the story is quite elaborate, the human character animations are outstanding, the performances are great, and there are some real moving moments in the game. Greg Louden of Remedy told me, “Most games you play through once and forget. Quantum Break and Alan Wake and Max Payne are games you remember.
LazyGamer - 9/10
Quantum Break is another example of Remedy Entertainment sticking to what they know, and doing it better than anyone else. An engrossing adventure with a captivating story. experimentation with new mediums for telling stories in games and refined third-person gameplay to match. Quantum Break isn’t optional, it’s essential.

POSITIVES
An amazing audio/visual spectacle
Fresh and fast-paced shooting mechanics
Excellent story with a good cast of actors
Live-action show feels well-produced and crucial to the narrative
NEGATIVES
Cover system can sometimes fail you
Frequent story-building but wordy collectibles pause the action for extended periods of time
GamingTrend 9/10
Remedy swung for the fences and hit a homerun with Quantum Break. With an engrossing story, an amazing cast, and the most beautiful visuals on the Xbox One we’ve ever seen, Quantum Break is a masterpiece.
The Jimquisition - 8.5/10
Quantum Break is not the most revolutionary of games, and its box of time toys cover what is, at heart, a fairly standardized shooter. However, it carries itself with style and speed to create something genuinely fascinating to play, flavored by a story that, while failing to pay off in the final stretch, is more detailed and engrossing than most in its league.
Destructoid - 8.5/10
It's a disappointing realization, but not a damning one. Far from it, actually. Remedy's keen understanding of how to make an action title shines through, and it's every bit a game that has been lovingly crafted for years. Quantum Break won't at all times feel like a game, as the player spends a fair chunk of time relegated to spectator. But, no matter which side Quantum Break is showing, it's always going to be a spectacular one.
GameInformer 8.5
Quantum Break isn’t a perfect game; it’s a bold experiment in how two mediums can tell a larger story, and at times it pays off. It would be foolish for every game to attempt to emulate this form of storytelling, but Quantum Break as a gaming oddity deserves attention. I wish the events of the show were more significant to the main story, but Quantum Break more than makes up for that with some of the best storytelling and gameplay Remedy has ever produced.
Kotaku
Despite how pedestrian some aspects of the game may be, I concluded Quantum Break feeling like something new had happened. Something special had happened that more than compensated for some of the flatness of the story and the mostly rote gunplay. A game simply never worked like this before, nor has a TV show. Because of that, what might have otherwise been ordinary feels extraordinary.
Quantum Break is an ambitious experience, but neither the video game nor the live-action sides of this time travel story come together in a satisfactory way.
Gamespot gave it 6/10 but it's not a well known site so understandable it didn't make it.
IGN gave it an 8 which is basically a 4 nowdays so it doesn't make the cut either.
Honestly im really not interested in this game for various reasons but most of these review scores seem still too inflated too me cause the reviewers simply don't have the guts to give a Remedy/Microsoft game with this high production value the 6-7/10 score it deserves.
It was a colossal fucking mistake on their part to only distribute the game via MS's Windows Store. Seriously, who in their right mind uses that place?
The amount of potential revenue they pissed down the drain by not releasing on any of the major digital distribution platforms (Steam, Origin, uPLAY, GoG) is soul-crushingly huge.
Poor Remedy, they gave Max Payne to Rockstar, and now they're in bed with the most clueless PC publisher (which is ironic, since everyone uses their OS to game on) of the past decade.
That said, I won't be shedding any tears (or playing any of their games apparently ).
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.
