The Ui is big because there is no other monitors in the world expect big ass HDTV´s. Can only imagine how shit this crap looks on my ultrawide monitor (i bet there is no scaling, or better no support for ultrawidescreen at all).
preload for the closed beta on steam is live, ~9,9gb. maybe a goldmine for dataminers think the closed alpha was only about ~4,5gb iirc and the closed beta doesnt include anything more?!?
edit: ok extracted almost 15gb. just checked the folders. biggest files are soundfiles ~4,5gb + language packs for every language with each 400-500mb and all together 8,5gb. textures 4,5gb in one file and mapsize is ~300mb per map

Performance is better than the alpha, at 1080p I haven't dropped below 60 fps on max settings with a 970. 1440p was almost unplayable though, constant fluctuations from 30-60 depending on what was happening.

game doenst start anymore. always starts on my second screen (which is not marked as main display) and crashes while/after the intro. doenst change if only enable one display, gfx drivers update didnt worked either. great... alpha worked fine

it has two modes and two maps, and yes your old alpha entry got converted to beta
game starts for me if i wait 2 minutes during the intro without hitting any button. they optimized it well. no slowdowns anymore, steady 60fps @1080p with tsaa. other (advanced) gfx options are not available

Was looking at some streams. Not going to bother with this. Look how far we have come. Pink weapons, uninspired cave map, feminine sounding announcer, huge UIs, same weapons as always, slow as shit gameplay. Can keep going but there's no need this shit will die out extremely fast. If the game had a different name people wouldn't even bother at all.

it actually uses dedicated servers, even did in the first alpha. but i hope there will be a server browser and not only that lobby shit.
Tried the beta as well earlier this afternoon since the Bethmen sent me a code via-mail. My impressions are still the same
The only good part is that it runs without hiccups here, although both the quality of textures (as per idTech tradition) and IQ in general are rather poor.
When it comes to the multiplayer itself, there isn't much to say really. It could be merely okay for a limited time, I give it one month on PC, but we're talking about something consolized to hell(bound) and back, not twitchy, with serviceable shooting mechanics/little depth overall, and with the awful matchmaking system on top of everything. Fundamentally a Dhaloom - Bunny Hopping Edition
The fact that the poor single player campaign barely gets mentioned by the marketing doesn't make me hopeful either, only the yarrelease (if there will be one) will tell us the truth. Please be at least passable

It was meh. I liked the shooting and graphics but it was no Rage at all.
New order felt weird. Something was very off. It's difficulty was all around the place, atmosphere was mixed too and it was just plain boring.
It was good and I've finished it but I dont share all the excitement and "goty" like others... while at the same time I replayed games like rage and singularity!

Ya I'm just not into AAA shooters for below reasons, I recently did a brutaldoom run and honestly would love to see someone make:
1. Shooter with minimal to no in-engine cutscenes used.. its fucking annoying just let me play the game ffs.
2. Stop the straight line levels.. I remember the original doom games also having a map but the map in brutal doom is very easy to follow and use to find keycard doors or unexplored area's. Why can't gamers read maps anymore?
Pretty much leaves Arma as my favorite shooter, but its performance is half that of Star Citizen is i.e just infuriating and unplayable.
