Doesn't that make it impossible to play? If you try to download a Steam activated game on UPlay it'll just prompt you to use Steam instead and if you try to play it I think it goes via Steam as well before it connects with UPlay but perhaps it does not?

nah, i think it doesn't work, my mistake, i had an idea that if you activate any kind of uplay key on top of the game you bought in steam, that it allows download via uplay,but it's hardcoded to start up steam for such games. my bad.

Not if you replace the Steam exe with the Uplay exe
For example The Division: http://www91.zippyshare.com/v/EYRHbORi/file.html
Steam Uplay bastardisation basically acts as a symbolic link or something, when you click "play" in the Uplay library with Steam's division exe wanting to launch steam and all that crap, if you use the uplay exe instead then it launches the game instead of steam.
Of course you'll still have to get updates and such via steam unfortunately and need new updated exe/dlls each time etc. etc.

no way im gonna install another spying and battery drainer auth app after steam and battlenet. especially not for origin or uplay.

What's wrong with Google Authenticator? I use it for gmail and origin so why not for ubi also?

There are users everywhere complaing how their Origin account was suddenly in russian and the owner informations were changed pointing to some russian name etc... As I've said 2FA can really save you from tons of shit you might face because some companies don't care about their services' security. It's your call mate.
