| Quote: | Update: Yager has provided a statement on the matter via its Facebook page. The company confirms Deep Silver's announcement that the two have parted ways.
”Our YAGER team is fully committed to the development of AAA quality titles," writes Timo Ullmann, CEO of YAGER Group. "We work closely with international publishers and partners and have at the same time always remained an independent development studio. Our team is made of the best creative minds and tech specialists who all share a common identity. The team worked with enthusiasm to take Dead Island 2 to a new level of quality. However, YAGER and Deep Silver's respective visions of the project fell out of alignment, which led to the decision that has been made. We’ll focus our current efforts on Dreadnought together with Six Foot and our publisher Grey Box as well as on new projects. More details will be disclosed soon. All I can reveal at this point is that gamescom will be awesome for Dreadnought.” |

http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/249853/Dropped_by_Deep_Silver_Dead_Island_2_studio_files_for_insolvency.php
| Quote: | Former Dead Island 2 developer Yager Productions GmbH is filing for insolvency less than a month after the German game company parted ways with publisher Deep Silver.
However, since Yager Productions is only a sub-division of Yager Development established for the express purpose of making Dead Island 2, Yager chief Timo Ullmann has stated publicly that declaring it insolvent should not impact the rest of Yager.
"Insolvency proceedings solely affect Yager Productions. All other parts of Yager Group are independent and remain unaffected," Ullmann stated in a press release, assuring Gamasutra and other outlets that Yager employees affected by the insolvency bid will have their wages "secured for the upcoming months" and that all other Yager Group projects will continue as planned.
Yager currently has a team working on the free-to-play spaceship dogfighting game Dreadnought that Grey Box expects to publish later this year, as well as another team working on what Ullmann describes as "new gaming concepts. |

That's a great idea but I doubt they'll do it right. That would mean melding some of the mods to the game in a way that they're not even mods anymore, but the way the game is now by default. I doubt they'll do that.

Dafuq happened to this game? Wasn't it developed by Yager until they were removed from it? It looked pretty fun but then fell off the radar.
And now this...Either they handed development over to a developer with two puzzle games under their belt, one for the Wii U and another for mobile, and a shoot-em-up for Windows, MAC and Linux, or it's a spin-off.
TBH, all their games received favorable reviews, and Symphony looks fun - http://store.steampowered.com/app/207750/
"I think Call of Duty resonates because it's believable and relatable," Sledgehammer Games cofounder Michael Condrey says.
Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

| Quote: | “Sumo showed so much understanding of the brand, had creative ideas and an excellent, vision that was aligned with our own,” Koch Media CEO Dr. Klemens Kundratitz told MCV.
“It just made perfect sense for us to move the project to them. We will reveal more details at a later stage, but for now I’d like to say that we are obviously super excited about the progress that we are making with them.”
Sumo Digital’s previous credits include LittleBigPlanet 3, Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed, and more.
“It’s an honour to be charged with the evolution of such an important franchise in Deep Silver’s catalogue,” said Sumo COO Paul Porter. “We’re looking forward to exceeding fan expectation with an ambitious design that we’re confident will take bone-crunching, visceral, zombie action to a whole new level.” |

Well, i guess it's better than not having a DI2 at all.
Though i still doubt the quality will be anywhere near Dying Light.

Is it though? I really think this IP is done. The first game with its standalone expansion was enough. The devs that actually made it moved on to a more evolved game based on the same formula. Dead Island is not an IP that needs another game no matter what. I find it really stupid that they refuse to drop this and just make a sequel just for the sake of making one. Why not focus resources on a different IP, maybe even something new or hell, something older, they have plenty of them that they are not using.
