I just got into the alpha, seems to be running smoothly even on my work computer which doesn't even have a dedicated videocard.

It's basically a PC exclusive fighting game with the twist that there's no directional inputs to do special moves, you've got 3 dedicated special moves per character which you can activate at will, with short cooldowns for all of them.

Not for me, sorry, the video looks clunky as all hell and the "you press a SPECIAL MOVE button to do a SPECIAL MOVE with COOLDOWNS!" didn't really sell it either :\ It looks like Rise of the Robots Sad

Game feels and looks really nice. Netcode is still a bit unstable but it's still early alpha stage so im sure they will work it out, especially since it's using GGPO.

To all the negative early posters regarding the no directional input for special moves, I think you all suffer from the trend of reading the headline or looking at the image without digging deeper before forming your opinion.
I found a good quote about why the game is still advanced: "Don't let the one button specials fool you, this game is deep. It's got chains, links, jump and dash cancels for just about every special. Interesting mixups and resets. And this is only with a few characters so far."

Since im pretty newb to fighting games I get stomped almost every ranked match, you can clearly tell that people who have played lots of similar games can just shit on noob players.

It's fine to dislike the game if you aren't into fighting games in general, but I think it's unjustified to immediately discard it based on that you don't have to do a half-circle input to shoot a fireball. The game is designed by people who's been heavily involved in the fighting game community (I mean he even created EVO) so I have hopes that it will turn out good.

Welp, the fighting community that ive shared some keys with seems to be loving the game so far. Am seeing complaints about repetitiveness, but that should be better once they add more characters.

@Keit

Or how about you just let people dislike what they dislike without telling them that they're wrong for not liking what you like? I saw the video, I didn't like what I saw, I posted as such. The cooldown specials was just the final straw. It's "fine" to dislike any I game I choose to dislike for any reason I choose to dislike it over.

its not that bad as it sounds. tbh its no real difference if you have a special on one button with a cooldown of that 1 sec compared to a special with 2-3 directions + one button with frames between it where it cant be used again. effect is the same

btw still got one key left

He's telling you that you're wrong because you don't have an informed opinion. Watching the video tells you exactly nothing about how the game plays, since it's a fighting game, you actually have to play it for yourself to see if the cooldown specials is something you can live with or not, since you haven't seen this mechanic in any other fighting game thus far.

And as a side note, why are you biting his head off, all he said was get more info before you write it off, which is a reasonable request. This goes back to the discussion we had on why old posters are leaving and new people aren't joining. It's because we don't promote discussion here, we either shut it off entirely or completely ignore the newcomers.

Guy A: "opinion based on presented gameplay video"
Guy B: "ur wrong, ur opinion is wrong"

Right... "discussion" I didn't "bite" his head off, I simply told him to stop trying to enforce his will on others just because they don't like something he likes. You gave a gameplay video, I watched it, I didn't like what I saw, I commented as such. Now you're using that as some sort of twisted bullshit as to why people are leaving and nobody else is joining? Right, let's turn this place into a YesMan forum like RSI or GAF.

Yes Rage, you're absolutely right Rage, the game is amazing Rage, I'm truly sorry I didn't immediately cheer for joy over a clunky looking, poor sounding, freemium online-only timer-based fighting game. I'm truly sorry Rage, you're right Rage, I suck and you rock Rage, I'll leave the forum so better people can join Rage.

My bad if the post seemed condescending. I just got a bit bummed out after trying the game and liking it and then seeing all the negative comments, I just overreacted a bit.

To all the other people, the game is quite accessible compared to other fighters which have a bit more technical inputs. If you are in any way interested in fighting games you should check it out once the game becomes more widespread, it's gonna be F2P in the end after all so imo it's worth a try.

It's okay bud, no worries, I tend to get a little snippy when people tell me that my preferences are wrong :\ No offence intended to yourself Smile My comments aren't really "negative", I just didn't like what I saw about the game and wasn't interested in it.

Radiant Entertainment, the developer behind the excellent-looking minimalist fighting game, Rising Thunder, has been acquired by Riot Games. While the Radiant guys are obviously super talented and I'm excited to think about what they could do with a financial juggernaut like Riot funding them, the acquisition unfortunately means Rising Thunder has to be put on the back burner from now. From Radiant's statement:

As for Rising Thunder, the team will start work on a new game that we're incredibly excited about. We wish we could say more now, but rest assured you’ll hear more when the time is right. For now, we will be closing the Rising Thunder Alpha on March 18th. Thanks to everyone who participated in the test!
