I think coop should be doable since it's IDtech engine, should be "hackable".... The Alpha already had gotten hacked to death...

Its pretty low to make a new Doom in 2016 and neglect to add coop. I'm annoyed because Doom was the very first game I played multiplayer with two computers, its a milestone and was a 'the future is here' kinda experience for me. It was awesome to see a friend walk around in the same game. Before that I always played splitscreen or you know games like Double Dragon or Golden Axe where you controlled characters in the same screen area.
It pioneered networked multiplayer gaming.

I can live without coop.
I think that's the opinion of this forum too, just re-read the Dead Space 3 thread and the -bro-op- feature and how about the whole hump was like "oh noes, all games nowadays are being bro-op".

They're making a new Doom, one of if not the first game offering this kind of optional multiplayer, and they're not adding it in the new game. That absolutely sucks whether you can live without it or not, its just bad. I can live without a lot of things too, that's not my point.

Doom 3 didn't have coop initially and it got added with a hack. So as I said this will most likely happen too.

Fuck co-op, give me a decent SP please. There are enough co-op fps out there versus almost zero SP fps experiences.

"Was just going through the files of the game and found a gamemode just called "coop" not in snapmap, it's just a gamemode called co-op."
"Just found more COOP info! It says: "Survive an onslaught from the forces of hell, with a friend! Which means it is either horde mode, or it is actually campaign with a friend, we can hope."
"Awards for COOP mode seem to be: Cacodemon Kills, Campaign Score, Archvile kills, Arc Cannon kills, Assault Rifle Kills, Cyberdemon Kills, Demon Kills, Deployable Turret Kills, Hellified Marines Killed, Hell Knight Kills, Imp Kills, Incapacitates (possible reviving system in coop), Here we go, just found Partner Revives and Personal deaths."
"Found multiple COOP levels it seems, looks like a seperate COOP campaign maybe?"
The alpha has been a gold mine.

Another 10/10 comment from the sexiest person on this forum.
Also, you said "Doom 3 didn't have coop initially and it got added with a hack. So as I said this will most likely happen too."
"added with a hack." this isn't a hack. The developers appear to have developed some sort of co-op mode for the game.
- stop the bating/personal jabs if people dont want it , thanks

Maybe it's best to wait and see what will be shipped for the final version, eh guys?

guvna wrote: | I don't really get why they aren't adding mod support for this. Do they really think snapmap is going to keep people interested? It's just a bunch of lego blocks you can put together. Can't even make outdoor areas or new rooms from what I understand??
If they were smart they would have done what firaxis did given dooms crazy dedicated mod community. Free mods = free sales etc.
Maybe they hope doom will be the next big cash cow fps and you can't have mods competing for sales. From what little pew pew gameplay I've seen between kill animations though that seems like a lost cause | Because denuvo makes mod support a no-no?

I have yet to see any mod that requires exe modification for any game.

Yep, the need to modify .exe files of games to implement mods is rather archaic.
Nowadays you can expect to just copy the modfiles to some specific folder and activate them ingame/with the games launcher.

The new designs are sexy, but implementing them would be misleading. The Halo-esque one was definitely more suited to the nature of the product
