He originally said he didn't leak it but if he knew it would get the movie made, like it did, he would have leaked it a long time ago.

Quote:
“No, no, no I didn’t leak it. But I would have. Looking back now, in a heartbeat. I should go home and scan the old hard drive and see what I’ve got in there.”

In this he a little more abiguous:

Quote:
“I know that one of us did it,” Reynolds said. “There’s four of us: me, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Tim Miller the director. We all said at the beginning that somone should leak it, so the idea was planted, but I’m 70 percent sure it wasn’t me.”

Part of the (crazy) marketing campaign was a reference that the director leaked it.

The truth is probably that someone was able to convince Fox to be allowed to try this as a viral marketing test. That's my theory anyway.

Its rated 15 in the UK. I was expecting 18. Is R rated not the equivalent of 18? Or are there different edits? Maybe an uncut version will release eventually?

Im hoping to see it next Thursday Smile

Yeah, Reynolds mentioned that it will get an (more) uncut version when released on BR etc.

Broke Box Office records for February movies beating Fifty Shades of Grey's opening (and its massive following!). http://deadline.com/2016/02/deadpool-zoolander-2-how-to-be-single-valentines-weekend-box-office-1201699895/

Quote:
This morning according to industry estimates, 20th Century Fox’s Marvel superhero pic, Deadpool, spanked Fifty Shades’ Friday figure by 57% with a projected daily haul of $47.5M (that includes $12.7M in Thursday previews) and its way to a mindblowing 3-day opening of $115.7M-$123M and a 4-day between $129.6M-$136M.

Also regarding our discussion of why do audiences (including women) are attracted to the movie, the polls show that almost 50% show up because of Reynolds' star power! (Very surprising to me that this is so high!)

Quote:
Forty-seven percent of the audience tonight cited Reynolds as the reason why they showed up, while 59% said it was because Deadpool is a superhero movie.

The movie's word of mouth is almost as strong as Star Wars'!

Quote:
CinemaScore is an absolute A, not just with all auds, but guys and gals, too. Males showed up in full force at 57% on par with Ant-Man. ComScore PostTrak reports that 88% of moviegoers said they’d recommend Deadpool to a friend. That’s the same recommendation score that Star Wars: The Force Awakens earned during its opening weekend. Further evidence that word of mouth is through the roof: 92% of those polled by PostTrak said they know five friends or family members who would see the movie (Force Awakens scored a 95% in this category).

Ryan Reynolds is the new Hugh Jackman of the X-Men "cinematic universe". I can see him appearing in next year's "Gambit" (starring Channing Tatum).

- Latest projections are $151-155M for the 4 day period. As the debut of a new superhero, it only comes second to The Avengers (which was a movie being hyped for years, a much better known property and PG-13). Insane!!

- "Fanboy films" usually drop at least 33% in the second day. Deadpool dropped only 12%.

- 43% of the audience consists of females.

$125M internationally for a combined $260M so far breaking various records. I now wonder if it can beat X-Men: DoFP ($748,121,534M)!

The movie was hilarious as fuck, but at the same time it somehow felt like it was trying to force the humor constantly. Dunno, I enjoyed it but at the same time it was a bit "try hard" if you ask me.

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/did-deadpool-director-tim-miller-865307

Multiple sources say the director leaked the test footage. (The author of the article is convinced it was him.)
Some sources suggest Fox gave him the ok to do that. (The author of the article argues against this).
Some sources believe it was a third party.

In any case it is an interesting read which includes some behind the scenes stuff.

I liked it and for a superhero movie that's already quite the achievement. I hope they can pump out something with a bigger budget next time and hopefully that improves some of the flaws with this one.

It was a step in the right direction at least.

For me it was overhyped a bit
Would rate it 6/10
To many pointless scenes. Reynolds was good only in Deadpool costume. Every time his mouth opened as Wade my ears and brain hurt.

http://collider.com/deadpool-directors-cut/

No Director's Cut (because the theatrical is his director's cut) on Blu-ray, just regular deleted scenes (unless Fox produces an unrated cut on their own).
