Do we know if the port is handled by Remedy themselves or has it been outsourced to some external unknowns? In the latter case, I smell a new Arkham Knight situation brewing...
Well, at least that's what they say. Alan Wake was actually ported by Nitro Games so I wouldn't be surprised if they are outsourcing it again. And there's nothing wrong with doing that if you choose the right partner and provide them with the necessary budget, time, documentation, support, etc.

BTW Alan Wake took 5 months to port. Number of staff: 5 programmers from Nitro Games under the supervision of 3 dudes from Remedy.

Poohaa, devs should really stop putting wallhacks in their games. Still... even after removing that I see enough derp to be left with some mediocre experience.
Did you pay attention to when they told you about the time stop ability? You played the entire demo like it was a generic cover based shooter. 1st comment
The game is much better in other videos where you have several powers.

Yes, one of the hobbits from LotR, you might also know him as Charlie, the drug addict bassist from LOST.
Also the protagonist is Iceman from the X-Men movies:
They are brothers in game. First Ashmore was cast and they they thought hey doesn't Monaghan look kind of similar to be a brother of Ashmore?
There's also Reddick from Fringe:
Aidan Gillen who had a role in The Wire plays the villain:
and a few more thanks to Microsoft's infinite budget.

Main guy - can't be arsed about the name - played in the SyFy series last year - also can't be arsed about the name - and he was cool in it. I liked him.
I love Remedy, , both Max Payne games and fantastic Alan Wake. They all have that special Remedy feel to them with all the goofy stuff and secrets.
But this one doesn't look all that interesting. And with the hollywood actors in the game it is even more uninteresting... I don't like the idea of using those known big cinema faces in games for some reason.

+1
The whole cast brings 'forced' feeling about the whole game. So far the game looks way too generic and I don't even want to talk about the damn Windows Store.

Thing is, for me, all of their games looked generic when seen through demos and short vids, etc. For me, Alan Wake turned out to be a REALLY great surprise. I never expected it to be good, looked completely cookie-cutter. Then I played the game and fell in love.
I'm not saying this game will be good. I'm saying I have faith in this team, it indeed SHOULD be good.
The actors won't ruing it for me. I like the fact, that they are experimenting with crossing a game with a show. I have no problem with that, I like innovation. And if I can have a choice, I rather a show have good actors rather than bad ones, so I'm good with the choices as well. It in theory should turn out great. And yet the demos are a bit on the boring side. We soon shall see.
Thats true aswell. My biggest concern at this moment is will this game ever be available outside Windows Store? If not it is very unlikely that I'm gonna spend a single cent on it. (not that I would pirate it either)

And Alan Wake is one of my fav games ever. YOu can play it so many times and still find new stuff. And those tv shows are sop good
Give Yourself a favor and fly around every level with noclip. It can only be done with 360 controller. There is a whole world around every map. It's huge, unfinished and You can see all the ideas they had. Really a nice piece of history.
Man I need to replay AW. Not done that in like 2-3 years. Pc version is great too

For me the actors are definitely a positive. It just so happens that I don't know anything about the protagonist to pique my interest. Something something time powers.

Apart from the cinematicness, the aspect that could taint my enjoyment here, strictly gameplay-related, is the strong presence of the cover system which is traditionally my boner-killer. If the game will really allow for more diverse and varied approaches (making the cover "optional"), then I'll most likely end up liking the game, otherwise..no bueno.
I've always enjoyed the Remedy games for that reason, the focus on shooting and on movements that are free from consolish constraints, and this one is quite the change of philosophy.
Rockstar with Max Payne 3 magically managed to find the sweet spot for the two thing to coexist, and hope the same thing can happen here too, but imma remain skeptical for the time being. The naughty streamgearsization monster is always around the corner
