Guise, nephew called, he's got a $600 budget for a new pc, we're looking at a new mobo, cpu, ram, gpu, psu and case ( maybe ssd if monies allow ). He's 15 and he's going to use it for games - bear in mind he's not interested in constant 60fps or full hd gaming.

i5 6400 (180),cheap board b150m (70), gtx 960 (200), 8gb ram (40), 500w psu (50) and case (40). slightly under 600 (prices are euros). if it has to be cheaper the i5 has to be replaced with an i3

I agree with Janz.
If you can spare the 20-30$, i would go for the i5-6500 though.

Don't know which cases you can get, but the BitFenix Neos seems like a cheap but good case.

or look for used components, you could get a used bundles of h87 board + xeon 1230v3 + 16gb ram for less than 300 euros

Yeah i would probably look for a used system, more bang for your buck if you are on a budget.

My friend with the pc store manages to get the parts in the budget:

I5-6400
8gb in dual channel
gigabyte b150
gigabyte gtx960
cpu cooler
case and 600w psu.
