Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it quite likely that 1.76 exploit will lead to a 3.11 exploit? As in, make it a shit tonne easier to find one?

the 1.76 update was released september 2014, while the next one (2.00) came at the end of cotober 2014. it's not that hard to find bundles that are 14-15 months old. i wouldn't buy one yet since there is no iso loader out yet (and may never come) and as you said, the exploit might lead to another one in the newest fw. no one knows.
best tactic right now imo, considering the rapid pace of development (remember a few months ago, there was fuck all on the ps4 hacking front), would be to do some homework on where to get specific bundles, checking sites like wololo and then quickly pulling the trigger once a loader gets out.

Before you get your hopes up, this too was patched with FW 2.0, so it's more of an alternative to the original hack than an upgrade.

Every modern "secured" device works like that: a locked bootloader whose signature is verified by hardware-embedded keys, which then loads and verifies the kernel, and so on.

There are still some bundles available with the 1.76 firmware it seems.
I've just grabbed a destiny bundle that isn't overpriced from a standard bundle. Worse case i have a backup console.

No, no backup loader. The hopeful long wait is pretty correct.
I paid £249 delivered so not overpriced. If a real hack 'loader' does appear, you can be sure the prices will raise to ridiculous levels. Which i might even take advantage of and sell it.
Just taking a punt on it tbh. And as i said at the worst i have a replacement console if/when my current console dies.

Saw the destiny bundle on Amazon UK for that price... Was a little tempted but investing that much right now doesn't make sense in my mind. That's like 8-9 top titles worth of money!

I don't know about the PS4 chain of trust but obviously it uses private keys and public keys.

Isn't the WiiU hacked and even emulated already?
Even with some fake news(like Cobra) things still happening,and will happen,I doubt we will wait another year for PS4's hacks.

Failoverflew,while seems to be hated by some,confrimed years a go the mltdr keys expliot whch was real and released by Gohot.
I am as "Optimistic" as wololo,as he himself even impliyng that hack could come this year.
The PS4 already been hacked in fact,just limited hackes/explliots released for public.
