Since xcom 1 the game has been like this. This shit time based missions doesn't allow you to create a decent tactical advantage. We are already having to fight agains 10 aliens (some that can reanimate corpses) and we still have to rush?
fuck
I think it is because most missions in XCOM2 is based on guerilla warfare. That means striking quickly and disappearing again to fight elsewhere. So I guess missions have to be done fast or else more aliens will show up and make the mission impossible. the timer makes sense in that context.

Totally agree here.
Rushing is good for some Call of Duty game style, but not games where you need to think a little.
Hopefully we will be able to tweak/mod this, otherwise yeah, fuck it.

I like how people think having unlimited turn is somehow more tactical. It is with limitations that brings out the creativity of the player. No missions would give you an entire day to finish it, time is always of the essence in real live, not just Call of Duty (which ironically has no timers). Just that a game has to use clear timers so players will always know how much time they have.
If you have to move 3 tiles and overwatch every turn, you're doing it wrong, try something else.
Use grenades and blow their cover for fast, easy kills.
Ranger + Aid Protocol is a great combo for your scout.
That 8 turn mission (Jagged chicken) went great after 2 tries. Just had to hack twice to get conceal for full squad and around turn 5 managed to hack from distance to finish it.
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

Some like playing it slow, turtling up..some like rushing into a battle blowing stuff etc..why devs thought it was a good idea to shove a particular play style down our throats?

in real live
and what's with this comparison to real life? I mean... seriously? I don't play games to see how it happens in real life.
Anyhow, is there a way to prevent the game form automatically setting everything to maximum detail on first launch? I'm thinking .ini tweaks or something. I've heard that max. settings turn even the main menu into a tormenting slideshow on old-ass 'puters such as mine.
The crowd control by the enemy, even that early in the game, is pretty sick man.
Mind control, panick, stun and incapticate. Not sure if the latter works as intended though: My soldier was incapticated and just lying around till the mission ended, so i had to fought with only 3 boys, wtf?

Gets harder.
Last mission: One started bleeding and was about to die. Had to evac him with other guy since he was lying down. Had to fight with 2 guys (where one got injured badly). Just got lucky with crit hits.
Also, you can unlock extra squad slot to take with you during mission. Quite handy, that is if you have soldiers available.
Those shaken soldiers are terrible..get panic like crazy.
Not had the time/ressources yet, to build that facility to increase squad size.
I actually like how you have to deal with all this pressure since the beginning. Just now this Avatar thing popped up for me too. And some "Dark Events" are about to happen.

@nforules
Your textures seem to be of a lower quality than in my game. Noticable at the tree log for example.
Though i currently have no comparison, as i'm in a city mission with shiny surfaces.

Anyone got Reshade to work though? The game crashes at startup, if i try to use it.
On the forums i found no thread for it, and on this site only one bad preset is there:

reshade works fine here, but i always use basic preset and enable smaa, lumasharpen and curves + vibrance nothing fancy.
Can you please upload your preset?
Maybe some setting is fucked in my preset, that makes the game crash.
@MannyK
Yep, sniper is pretty badass now. Just awesome if he pulls out his magnum for a nice shot in the face.
But most classes seem more useful now. Especially the Specialist. I think taking two of them with different skilltrees might be a good idea.

Copied the game from HDD to SSD to improve loading times. Sadly that had no impact at all it seems.
