Why would you want those awful lighting effects?!

Why would you want an awful "mechanical" keyboard that looks and sounds like it came from the 80s?

Some people like awful stuff. Wink

One of the reasons I switched to a mechanical was because of 'gaming'.
I had a couple of keyboards that would usually suffer with the left shift key being either hard to press down due to the sides of the key grinding up against other keys. I haven't has this issue at all on mechanical keyboards which makes it great, not only for gaming either. ^_^
So the switch was due to practicality above all but I still find these keyboards to be quite awesome. Very Happy

I just like the feel and sound of it better, to each his own. The lighting effects are fun, but I mainly only use 2 of them, the rest are just for fun when the pc is idle Smile

I never got why people like the sound of keyboard. If I'd want to get rid of anything it's the annoying sound of keys :\ That's why I like good laptop keyboards.

I don't game much, and when I do, I never found regular keyboard lacking...

But it's just my opinion Wink

I agree, it's quite annoying hearing the clicky sounds on these keyboards. But I'd rather hear a clicky sound than a scraping one when one key scrapes up against another. Very Happy

Bleh. I guess I just grew out of the whole lighting effects but I like mine just plain as it can possible get.

I think it was logitech that just made their own switch. Curious how that's going to pan out. I love my Cherry MX Browns.

Logitech's making the "Orion" Keyboard.. I have no idea about Switches and that stuff but the looks of it looks amazing.. And using an apple/android smartphone for an app seems like a great deal... HOWEVER,you can't use apps you'd use into a Logitech G510 (mine) like FRAPS to monitor FPS and if ya recording or not...or even AIDA64

"We try to go for better but we forget about the most important for the users...Oh well, better luck next time i guess" they say (Logitech)

I recently bought this keyboard:
http://www.corsair.com/en-us/strafe-rgb-mechanical-gaming-keyboard-cherry-mx-silent

My understanding is it is the only keyboard on the market with cherry mx silent switches. I've had it about a month and I like it. I like the mechanical feel of the keys and at the same time because of the silent switches there is no loud clicking. The only sound the keyboard really makes is when you bottom out which most keyboards make sounds when you do that.

The price was a downer but I felt it was worth it since I plan to use this keyboard at least 10-15 years and it is a big improvement over the OEM membrane keyboard I was using prior to my purchase.

The one thing I'm not sure of it's availability outside the US. In the US, you can only buy it directly from Corsair or a Best Buy store.

I agree. I left those in the box. I bought it for the switches and the reality is that there is no other product on the market that uses them at this time, unfortunately. I wish there were 2 or 3 other keyboards using them so there would be a little bit more of an opportunity to shop around.

Razer has some sort of silent switch keyboard too but then we are talking about buying a Razer product at that point. I'm sure everyone is familiar with the reputation of those products. Not the best, not the worst, but almost always the most expensive.

I always hated mechanical keyboards until I tried the original K70 and I absolutely loved it. I did buy some noise reduction rings for it and basically went on to place them on every single key but the end result was something that sold me on mechanical forever.

I bought a Ducky Shine 3 with MX Browns about a year ago, still love it. I never used all its lighting modes though, constant blue glow is enough for me.

I seriously consider buying a second mechanical for the workplace. Maybe without a number block, I can't even remember the last time I used it.
