I did not know that, sorry for noob question. I recently bought a 212 Evo which i could use, guess it wouldn't suffice?
@tonimeister, I already have an SSD and a half year old 1tb drive.

dafuq, no cooler included?!
Yeah that evo will be more than enough for stock settings, just keep an eye while assembling and to the initial temps since it was not officially supported but since the mounting holes are the same for 1150 there shouldn't be an issue.

if the goal is to have a well rounded system that will play everything as best as possible, RAM speed is important. cl 14 at 2133 is very slow RAM for skylake that has great memory performance.
fallout 4 is a recent example where you can see 15 fps gains in minimum fps with faster RAM, and if more games in the future comes with the same thing he will be covered.
But yeah, no brainer that CPU, GPU and SSD are key. building a non SSD system in 2016 would be a pretty bad decision.

Is there a huge difference between brands for z170, they are very confusing for having so many versions (just asrock has a ton of Ks)?
Asked a friend with a pc parts store to make me an offer, i'll report back in.

Thoughts on these?
ASRock Z170 Pro4S or MSI Z170A Pro
Only difference i noticed was that the MSI has more PCI slots and it's cheaper.

Would you consider getting an i5? I have one for a couple of years now and it still serves my every need. I can stream without a hitch, I can use Photoshop, Office, whatever. You could also save some cash that way.
As for other sites, maybe Azerty or MediaDOT, though I have come to count on PC Garage for my every need be it personal or business for consumer grade stuff.

Clau, I'm considering an i5 as well, but if I stretch and get an i7, i know i'm set for a few years.
Mediadot is slightly cheaper on some parts, but also more expensive on others, final price is neck in neck so i prefer buying from pcgarage.

Just get the i7 man, its gonna be worth it. There is already games which utilizes i7 very nicely, hell that recent The Division for example can utilize all 12 threads from my CPU.

I second that. My i5 3570K is still good enough for me, but if I had to upgrade now I would most certainly get an i7.

Right, got my friend's offer and it's looking like this:
MSI Z170-A PRO - 113 euros
Intel Skylake, Core i7 6700K 4.0GHz box - 377 euros
HyperX Fury Black 16GB DDR4 2666MHz CL15 Dual Channel Kit - 101 euros
If anyone has different opinions on mobo, please say, otherwise i've decided to go for these.

I always said I was going to upgrade from Ivy-Bridge to Skylake. But now I'm waiting to see how Zen will do and if we can get 8 real cores for a good price. I'm ready to be disappointed.

very nice dan. i hope you will face no problems with those 8gb kits and xmp profile.
also make sure to check the cpu vcore.
it gave me always around 1.2-1.4v which was not needed at all and just turned up my temperatures. i set it to manual and was going down in slow steps and noticed the system is still fully stable at 1.2v, even with 4.2ghz turbo mode. maybe even more would be possible, but 1.2v sounds good enough for me. tomorrow my cooler will arrive so i will overclock it anyway and probably have to go up some steps again.

Finally managed to make it work, fucking fuck.
Put it all together, didn't boot, red led comes on, seems there's an issue with RAM. Removed one stick and carefully placed it to each slot, trying to make it boot, no luck
Removed battery from mobo, left it for a couple of hours, came back, tried again with both ram sticks, each slot, still nothing. Removed ram, power, led indicating ram issues .. again. WTF?!
Tried one more time, with single stick on slot no. 3, led comes on, off, then BOOT!
Instantly went to bios, updated, selected frequency to 2666, turned off, placed the other stick on slot no. 1, works in dual channel, 2666 - all good.
3AM caught me windows installing, but so far so good. CPU-Z tells me ram is ok, cpu is ok and others are ok. Now monitoring temps.
I still believe something is wrong with mobo, might RMA it.
