I chose Hong-Kong and live in Germany (Asus Account registered to there as well)

Heavy compression and encryption so yeah it takes a while, should just do what UPlay or Origin does and omit the game exe until release.
(Or prevent the game from being started / activated until it's been released.)

Performance seen in benchmarks of that Geforce guide points to some nasty bottlenecks. An average 40 FPS on a 970 vs 47 FPS with a 980 Ti. It's 30 vs 37 at 1440p.

Yep, don't know why Steam didn't changed their system till now.
At least in those regards their competitors are better.
