Any specific VPN you guys use for activating? Application? Extension or what is the most simpel way?

Just use trial of FlyVPN and select the russian region:

Just a heads up, that on the russian GMG store the base game currently is on discount for 1124 Rubels (~12.9€):
http://www.greenmangaming.com/s/ru/en/pc/games/strategy/xcom-2/

Digital Deluxe is on discount too for 1649 Rubels (~18.9€):

Please preorder, thanks.

I'd do it but I'm afraid they'd lock my account for activating shit with VPN. Got WAAAY too much in it to risk it. Sad

Also, can't really order from there with Paypal since the site rejects it, and I don't have any Paypal anyway.

Wat Laughing
Use a creditcard then, should work better anyways.

Also just activating games on Steam with VPN or even playing them with one won't get you banned. I can't remember reading or hearing about that in the last years.
Only buying directly of the Staem Store with activated VPN bears a real risk.

Do you know if they will match existing pre-orders with that price? Pre-ordered it for like 18 euro about a week ago.

No they won't. And i preordered it too for that price.

I think to cancel orders you have to contact their support?

// Requested a refund now. Let's see how long they take. Hopefully before the discount ends. grinhurt
Instead of 18.8€ two weeks ago for the base game, i would now get the deluxe edition at the same price. Thanks to a weak Rubel too it seems.

// Order cancelling took ~1 hour from GMG.

Is it region locked when buying from Russian GMG?

Kind of, activation requires you to be in Russia (VPN) but after that you should allegedly be fine.

You sure your CC is not fucked for some reason?

I cancelled my recent order for this earlier today. Shortly after i got the confirmation, i ordered it again with the same account and CC. No problems.

Only went for the base game though. Not sure the Season Pass is worth it from the description and looking at the mod tools.

Yes. Of course there still is a chance, that it might get a region lock prior to release.
Though i doubt, or rather hope, it won't be the case. Surprised Very Happy

Yea!

Thanks to your post, i had a look at the first XCOM games. And the RU-version could indeed only be played with a VPN.
At least or me that would be no problem.
Also at currently ~10.5€ for the base game i won't complain.

Hmm, paid mods I wonder? People would love that.

To be honest though I am kind of surprised. I thought LWS was busy gearing up to develop their own commercial game. Seems odd to take the time to make mods for someone else's game. I wonder if Firaxis made some sort of deal with them to help them out on their own game or something.

I want deluxe version so bad, but don't have money currently and russian VPN version is uncertain to work after activation without VPN.

I guess I will wait for the release and see how it works, if it works I will get it even if the price is little increased.

Been watching this guy play some of the preview version

I've decided to not buy it even though the russian price is awesome. Man, I wish video games were that reasonable always. Alas. The Youtuber spends way too much time explaining and stuff, but its not really a pure gameplay video. Anyway, gives an impression at least. Very similar to XCOM as expected by everyone. Its going to be fun watching other people play through it though, speaking for myself.

I just don't need more of the same gameplay first-hand. Smile I entirely get the same experience watching it. I found that out playing the first XCOM, then watching others play on worse difficulty settings. It looks good, but I somehow find it weirdly linear, even the way they present the map as having tons of options it still boils down to starting like noobs, adopting alien tech, beating the aliens with their own toys.

I'd just watching some dude play on worse difficulty than I'd ever bother doing, and see him do all the considerations before every shot, even with 89% hit chance miss and fuck his entire team Very Happy
