November 2014 I bought this Seagate 2TB drive, so it's now a little more than a year old. Since I have my primary download folder on it, I noticed my torrent download speeds would lately max out at ~12 mb/s, which is ridiculous, seeing how they should be at 90-100.

Changed my download directory to my SSD and it jumped back up to ~95. So I used CrystalDisk to check the speeds, and this is the result:

Conversely, I did the same test on one of my other drives, for example, this i my 3TB Toshiba:

Both are 7200 rpm, 64mb cache drives. I mean what the fuck, just a year old and already showing this much drop in performance? It's near unusable. Not really, but I bet my 2TB 5400rpm WD is faster..

Nothing I can do, are there?

the drive is most likely only fragmented as hell, what about defragging it?

Fragmentation is at 4% according to Defraggler. Not exactly a lot.

I suppose you've already checked its SMART status?

Used Seatools to run SMART test, Self test and Generic test, and all came back OK.

Here's the HD Tune standard benchmark:

What more tests should I run?

As a comparison, I'd run your torrent on the Toshiba instead of the SSD.

I was going to, but since those read/write speeds in HD Tune was better than in CrystalDisk, so I started another torrent just to test, and this was the peak:

Dropped to 70 mb/s for a short period, but now as I type this it's at 100+ again. Wtf is going on? It now completed 12.5 gb in 2 minutes, as it should.. It maintained an average download speed of 88 mb/s. Yesterday it was like 7-8 mb/s...

It could very well be related to the torrent at that particular time. Or maybe some other process was using your disk at the same time.

I've got a less than one year old WD Blue at 7200 rpm that performs worse than your Seagate. But its almost full aswell.

Free space?

Perhaps you need to do a free space defragmentation? It takes quite some time on a disk that big but is usually a good thing on large non-SSD drives.

Perfect Disk 13/14 will do a free space defrag.

bs should match the size of the disk cache, so use bs=64M.
