I think this is not the best time for beginners... |
I think the worst moment for beginners is in a soaring market. At least stocks are cheap now, so you don't have to invest as much for a bigger possible gain.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.

They are traded on the Nasdaq. There is no minimum, just market cap, but they are given 6 months for market cap compliance.
And remember that back in 2008/9 they went as low as 19 cents before climbing to 40 dollars.

with Iran now back in the international oil business, 20$/barrel suddenly doesn't seem that far fetched anymore.
Best wait out a bit more before jumping on Exxi, there's no bottom yet.

Current prices already have that baked in.

Oil always drops before the rest of the economy does. This is why I sold off most of my positions in June/July of last year. The writing was on the wall.

It seems growth coming to a halt worldwide, is this because normal people are squeezed to the point of barely surviving and priced out if property? Therefore just dont spend anymore?
Speaking for myself, dual income and we'd need to save 7-8 years to afford something an hour+ commute from work, and thats if prices stood still and interest never rises > this is why im investing in stocks now because it's not possible to work for a living anymore.

My only prediction to you folks, is that the barrel will cost 150-200 dollars soon, USA now will control Oil sales, KSA will have the worst days to sell its Oil.
Oil price will go low for a couple of months.

Basically, nothing has changed since 2008, but the world is acting like it has. Everyone is ignoring it by pressing more (virtual) money constantly, with the global debt at an historic height. Money literally has no value anymore; the rent has been at 0% for 5+ years in the USA, with zero impact on the economy.
China is also (still) in big trouble, and this has a global impact, including on oil.

Number 1 shareholder at this rate. I shorted myself and made some losses back. The manipulation isn't looking good. Still holding but none of this is based in reality anymore.

Oil/gas supply is now estimated 2.5x higher than 4 years ago (shale gas/oil innovation main cause of this). All this peak oil bullshit (facilitated by gulf states)t has come to an end. So you can derive what happens next in energy stocks. If you want safe investment invest in food/water sector in rapidly population growing markets, same as old bill gates does
A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night, and in between he does what he wants to do.

Supply is higher because demand is higher. We are at max supply right now, and are only 1% over supplied.
This price action is not due to a glut situation like the 80's but is purely a price war.
OPEC will come out stronger then ever due to this. They can ride these low prices out as they intended and watch as everyone around them shuts off rigs due to lack of investments due to the low price of oil. Once the rigs in the US/elsewhere are shut off they'll have the nearly complete domination of the market that they had up until recent years due to the shale boom, and you can be certain prices will reach all time new highs as there will be vast under supply since we won't have the rigs online to match the ever increasing demand.
