Found an almost perfect gaming monitor... not ultra-wide, but oh well:
https://pcmonitors.info/dell/dell-up3017q-120hz-4k-uhd-oled-monitor/
30" OLED display, 3840 x 2160 at 120Hz
400 000:1 static contrast ratio
0.1ms response time
All for only $4999!
On a more serious note, I wonder how long it will take for things like that to hit gaming mainstream. Those specs with adaptive-sync and backlight strobing (if they will ever make those play nice together) would make for a perfect display... except for all the burn-in.
I suppose we will have to give it another year or two, at least.

Not all of those cool tech things ever hits the market.. we saw 3D monitors that didnt require glasses around 8 years ago.. I also remember seeing a 3D TV as well that didnt require glasses, this was many years ago when i travelled to Brazil (it was on display at an airport, for some reason). You'd think they'd hit the market by now and be a huge thing, but nope (except for 3DS, but it hardly counts).

I had a chance to work with one of those for my Masters thesis; the technology is just not there yet.
They basically have a foil with ridges over the display, similiar to those post-cards you can wiggle around to get a 3D effect. Then the 3d picture content is rendered interlaced, line by line, and the viewer needs to be in the exact position for your eyes to match the ridges, or else you will not get the full 3d effect or it will be blurry.
For our TV set there were about 3 sweet-spots with good vision, other viewers didn't see shit. So as cumbersome glasses are for 3D, at least you can freely move around while watching a movie, shifting positions etc.
Then there are other technologies that track the viewers eyes with a camera and adjust crystals in the display accordingly, but this only works for one viewer.

True in general, but this isn't some concept technology - it's just an OLED screen. This particular one is supposed to be out by the end of March.
AMD previously talked about getting HDR stuff ready on both ends (in hardware) this year and Netflix is talking about HDR content. Seeing how HDR is only viable with OLED so far, things are definitely heading in that direction. Just a matter of time until prices start to get more reasonable.

I'd rather get 2-3 Eizo Monitors for that price. That's just too fancy to be relevant (at least for my taste, doesn't need a crazy expensive monitor to be satisfied). Can't imagine the price drop on that in the future, you can already see the TVs falling hard from such ranges.

Well, even manufacturers that are spear-heading OLED displays, like LG, are still working on improving black/white levels on their "standard" LCD displays. As long as they all work towards those goals, I am all for it - might make something good until all the kinks are worked out with OLED (or they find something even better).
Although the problem I see right now is that all those fancy "SUHD" TVs are even more expensive than OLED ones, so they are not much of an alternative.

Personally I could not care less what they do with LCD. I dont remember a single improvement on their flaws in quite a few years now. Besides, now that OLED is practically here I dont want to settle for less. I've been waiting for good native blacks way too long already. I also can't switch from plasma now. As flawed as they are, there is not a single LCD that is strictly better.
And as you said, even price wise LCD are barely competitive, as the 1080p OLED are already <2000€ and the 4k are sometimes even cheapter than comparable LCD. Only two image quality flaws remain with the LG OLED: uniformity near black and for some motion depiction (e.g. no BFI). Then there is a meh input lag and no proper calibration in gaming mode and no long term experience with image retention. So far I've mixed results: Some have actual problems, others use their LG OLED as a computer monitor with no issues, and then some have stupid software problems with LG per-pixel correction which creates temporary image-retention like problems.
