Hello, im considering buying my first headphones/headset. I will use them mainly for gaming (fallout 4, some shooters, etc), watching movies and listening to some music.

These are my two options -

Audio-Technica ATH-M20X
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00HVLUR18?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

Kingston HyperX Cloud II

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00SAYCXWG?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_2&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

Now ive read quite alot and it seems that everyone is praising the Cloud 2. On the other hand, M20x are professional studio headphones (even tho, they are the cheapest in the line) and many consider the gaming headsets for nothing more than a gimmick...

I do need a microphone as well, cloud 2 has one, but i can always get a separate cheap one anyway.

Cloud 2 has additional sound card with virtual surround. As i know, this can be emulated easily with software, turning every headphone set into surround one as well.
ALso, ive read that quite alot of the cloud's external sound cards are faulty and give some nasty noice cracking and using that card instead of direct connection actually muffles the sound. But if the sound quiality is much much better on them... i rather spend the money on the cloud...

So i wonder which way to go... now in Bulgaria, the price difference is huge.., which brings me to my next question :

Amazon Prime - because in my shitty country (Bulgaria) the prices are insane - 102 euro for the Cloud 2 and 51 euro for the M20x , im considering buying from amazon.uk as of know both products are heavily discounted. The question im having is - if i activate my amazon prime trial - will i get the free shipping ? Because if not - that is like 10- more euro for delivery and it is not really worth to order it from there (esp. for the m20x)

If you buy HIFI Headphones, you might or should need external DAC/AMP for it for best sound quality.
Atleast the higher quality ones do. I should be getting a pair of Q701s hopefully next week and some 70€ DAC from Ebay.

My integrated card gives too much static and background noise so it is disturbing.

gaming headsets are pretty much always inferior.

good headphones+ a clip on mic is always a better choice if you want quality.

build quality and durability, the m20x are better as well.

I'm using Turtle Beach 450 right now, I really got no complaints about the quality, but coming from 15€ Sony Headphones, I'm pretty sure everything should be better.

Shipping this headset back next week due to them being too small for my head. The cups are tiny and I got these extended to max and still barely fit my head, just not very comfortable really.

Fingers crossed the Q701 will make a world of difference combined with this http://www.ebay.com/itm/291638776477

Plus they have my 'enhancements'.

Troll Face

Only weak part of the Q701's is not having bass that you can actually feel, but i'd actually say they have a better soundstage then my Fidelio X2's although the X2's generally have a better sound to them.

In this case it's easy. Hyperx cloud as its not really a gaming headphone. It's takstar pro80 which is highly regarded.

And imo Audio technica is overrated although I've not heard many.

Audio Technica is hardly overrated. They're one of the top next to AKG and Sennheiser.

Their ATH AD-xxx series headphones are some of their most popular and highly regarded headphones for mid/hi-fi open back headphones.

On top of that their ATH M50x is one of the top selling closed back headphones on the market.

Closed back is a waste unless you need the sound isolation. If you don't need the sound isolation you're just hurting the overall soundstage and imaging with a closed back.

I know it's top selling but I don't like either AKG or sennheiser.
AKG at least have great build quality and comfort but sennheiser are like toys. 598 is just way too overrated. imo imo imo.

ATH m50 is indeed most recommended headphone ever but I dont like the plastic feel, poorcushions and the price is just too high for what it offers. Thats why pro80(kingstons) wins. Way better quality/comfort with very good sq. well I am talking about kingston version. The pro80 orignals have worse cushions and worse quality check at factory

Don't beat me tho! I've only heard the described headphones for a few minutes.

Currently I only own Koss portapro for when I can get away with sound leakage(it's super comfy and have fun signature with nice bass surprisingly... most used headphone I had. Just can have it on head for hours) and brainwavz hm5 for when I need more detailed sound with no leakage at all (like if my gf is sleeping)
So that is an endgame for me right now. but if I was buying headphones again, I would get clouds for sure. Not sure if instead of anything I have or as additional pair... cause if leakage is no problem koss portapro or sennheiser px100 are super good for their very low price. Then Philips fidelio open headphones. Man those are really good

Yeah my only fears are the lack of bass on them, I do like a bit more "beefier" sound, nothing over the top though. But I guess that can be fixed with some sort of EQ. Or I'll just move my amplifier back to my PC and use that.

Audio-Technica make some good headphones. My ATH-M50s that I have had for over three years, and used for several hours each and every day, have just broken. A piece of plastic broke off. They looked a bit tatty anyway after the heavy usage over the years.

So, I bought some Beyerdynamic DT880 PRO 250 OHM that are being delivered tomorrow.

Oh I'm with you on that. I don't own any myself.
