thats what i m saying, the x360 doesnt feel next-gen at all, this is actually the first time in history that a next gen console doesnt beat pc graphics-wise at launch, which is pretty weak.
and about 7 controller ports, who said anything about splitscreen?
ever played sports games like pro evo soccer, wrestling games like smackdown or party games like bomberman? no splitscreen there and up to 6-8 players.

i dunno the ps3 might be better than the 360, but i'll reserve judgement till the ps3 is on sale and the 2 consoles can be properly compared.

utter rubbish, i've played on my brother-in-laws and every pc game to xbox360 conversion looks better in its console counterpart.
But i still wouldn't call the xbxo360 a true next gen more of a progression and now that i've played one will happily wait for modchip or more info on NR & PS3

A console that's coming out a year after the 360, OF COURSE it'll be better, SONY will always win.

Agreed. All those games can be played on hi-end PC with much better graphics. Even with my mediocre PC i wouldnt call Xbox 360's games great graphics-wise. Maybe later, but definately not now

god look at these nba screenshots, the xbox ones actually look better than the x360 ones, no shit.
after seeing all these comparisons, the only game that actually looks like next-gen is fifa 06, most of the rest = sad.
this thread´s purpose was showing that x360 is better than the ps3 but it really backfired. |

No no.. the MGS4 video is NOT in-game! At best it's useing the 3D-engine, realtime. But again, that isn't ingame! Ingame is playing it. I beleive its the 3D-engine as well, but you can't play a game and make it look like a action movie at the same time. All the scenes in the MGS4 movie is planned and scripted. It will not look that impressive while being played, trust me.

think a bit back in time, at first, when mgs1 was announced for psx and the first trailer was shown, ppl were in awe, everyone said that cant be game graphics, in the end it didnt disappoint a bit, it looked the same as in the trailers.
a few years later when the mgs2 trailer was shown, noone believed the game could look that good. everyone was sceptic, saying that it wont run like that in the release build.
guess what, everyone was wrong.
now, for the third time there is an mgs trailer that looks absolutely incredible and damn, the people still dont get it. hideo kojima proved it 2 times already why are there still people around who dont believe?
trust me, that game will look every bit as good as in that trailer, if not better.
kojima never disappointed, and he wont now either.

The only important thing is that its not pre-rendered movie, bacause even PS1 can play pre-rendered movie like this. Of course its scripted everyone understands it but you can actually see what game's engine and PS3 together can do in real time, and when you actually start playing the graphics will be the same, why should it be different?

theres an article on IGN that says xbox360 is more powerful than 95% of all PC's today. So if your idea of a "high-end" PC falls only under that 5% then your right. Otherwise your wrong. And if only 5% of all PC's out now are equal to/more powerful than xbox360, think about how much a computer like that would cost.

yeah your right, at present only 1 core is being used, and saying Blueray is needed for Role playing games isn't true for future games as it won't be needed as all cgi can be done with the game engine these days so require less space than FMV clips.
And people that are saying that a high end pc can run any of these 1st gen games on xbox are just crazy. Lets wait for the actual PS3 to be showing more REAL gaming footage or even better a actual release of the console, then we can make better comparisons, but TBH i expect hardly any difference which as has been stated by many hardware sites on what the final specs for PS3 is showing.

Noone says 360 sux ass but games this console has right now are really nothing special. You can have similar or even better graphics on todays high-end PCs and thats BAD for next-gen console. The console maybe good but its big zero without good games. Right now there are no games for 360 that make you say "WOW I want it now!!", especially if you have good PC or even if you already have first Xbox which has Farcry, Doom 3 and other great looking games

Microsoft clearly shuld have waited abit before they launched their console, it's clear after seeing the games that are out, a bunch of ports basicly.
Kameo is the only true next-gen game in my opinion. It totally crushes every other current-gen platformer when it comes to graphics, and that's what a next-gen game shuld do. The rest of the games have taken a quite low step up from todays games.
And mcmanic, we will without a doubt see many rpg's with fmv's. Next-gen consoles are not powerful enough to render graphics needed for, for example, those awesome emotional cutscenes. Imagen the cutscene in ff7 where claude lowers Aeris into the water with mgs4 graphics instead of the awesome fmv, haha, that would really suck, and that fmv is not even as awesome as todays fmv's.
Or the scene where Aeris get stabbed by sephiroth. In-game graphics are just not enough for such scenes. You need the perfection and the movie feeling of fmv's to truly appreciate them.

I sincerely hope that it isn't the 'good old' (read: Antiquated) MGS gameplay. The third one was already showing it's age and if the next one if the same just with improved graphics only the fanboi's will get it. The best thing about MGS3 was it's cutscenes, and thats never a good thing in a game.

It is for the MGS series. The main reason I play them is for the stories and plot. Sure the gameplay is great too but the main reason I keep going on is for the amazing story.

same here, the story and characters are what fuels these games and imo the gameplay is still equally great.
whats showing its age isnt the gameplay but the controls, and the camera.
atleast the camera will be fixed in subsistence.

Hideo Kojima stated to 1up that HE COULD DO THE MGS4 TRAILER ON THE 360 IF HE WANTED. He said the reason he's not however, is because he sees MGS belonging to the PS brand but he said the 360 could do it also. End of debate.

As the guy said himself, if you want to tell a story write a book or make a film.
Don't create a game that people have to pay £30 for, only for the best part be the story.
Anyway, the PS3 isn't any more powerful then the 360, the only thing that'll set them apart is the games. The 360 has a large headstart but the PS3 has arguably the better developers, so we'll see.
