D_A_Kuja wrote: | dude, leon only 7/10, ok ok its all a matter of taste, but leon is one of the best movies of the 90ies. reno´s and oldman´s performances are the best in their whole career.
the whole movie is so full of emotions but yet so cold, ive watched it more than 10 times and still dont have enough.
definite 9.5/10 i d say.
but folowing the general saying "opinions are like assholes, everybody has one and nobody admits that their stinks", sure if its not ur cup of tea fair enough. |
I agree leon is an amazing film. 7/10 is pretty poor considering some of the ratings you've given others.

It was really good...but some of the stuff just...I dunno, didnt add up. Like the fact that he didnt have any direct control of his money, and I didnt get the milk thing.
I didnt watch it from the beginning tho, tuned in like 45mins into it when my boys and I came home from the bar to smoke a few j's.
Still a really good movie. And Reno is a badmon, for real.
And Natalie Portman kinda ruined it a lil...and the sexual overtones between reno and portman were kinda creepy, like Lolita shit ya know?
Well, since so many recommended it
Lord of War - 9/10
Awesome fuckin movie, awesome. I dont wanna discuss it cuz I dont wanna ruin it for anyone, but fuck, simply awesome. And I actually think Cage did a really good job in this movie - and im not a cage fan at all. This and the Rock are the only 2 movies i think he's really good in.
@Sub
I dunno how you rate movies, but I dont go by a particular guideline...like I know alot of ppl didnt like The HitchHiker's Guide To The Galaxy, but man, one of the best movies ive seen in a long time. Simple, subtle british humour (which I think is hilarious) and just a good, enjoyable watch for ppl of all ages.
Thats how I rate my movies...like was I staring at the screen, did it hold my interest, did it shock me (in a good or bad way) etc Of course, what mood im in affect my opinion
Lord of War for example, was good cuz it "shocked" me. The topic and the acting. Cage does a really good job and I didnt expect what i saw ya know? Same with Hitchhiker's, i thought it was some stupid kid movie, but I really was surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

yea but you cant say well this is a 7/10 for an action flick... this is a 3/10 for a drama. You incorporate the genre into the rating. If you don't like dramas at all then it's gonna be low anyway. You cant rate a film high because it's good for it's genre, rate them against each other.

The Island - 5/10 - Wow biggest commercial I ever saw! But this is still one of the better Michael Bay flicks...

I thought The Island was really good. Maybe it's one for the cinema only.
Dark Water 6/10 - don't bother. Doesn't matter how well made a film is if the plot is crap.
Lawn Dogs 9/10 - cool movie. It was on T.V. recently. Although it's set in the States, it reminded me more of a French/European type movie. It's refreshing.
Lord of War 8/10 - surprisingly good. As metioned above. Wouldn't call it an action movie though.

Christmas with the Kranks-5/10. Pretty bad first 40 minutes. After that it got somewhat better. Still wasn't good though.

Bad News Bears - 8/10
Very best of it's kind, Billy Bob Thornton meets perfection with his role in this movie. Funny, entertaining and well thought through..
Note: This is usually not my kind of movie, but i still thought it was good.. Might wanna get a second opinion

A History of Violence - 7 / 10
fairly interesting thriller, starring viggo mortensen (aragorn) and ed harris.
the plot isnt really presented well, and there is some overacting here and there,
but its a pretty unique film, just has a strange feel to it along with some very graphic sex scenes and violence. definitely worth watching once.

Doom 6/10
Alot better than I had expected it would have been. In parts it reminded me of the Resident Evil films just the way its been shot and the way they treat the content from the Doom series, in places its almost like there trying to accomodate certain aspects of the game into the movie rather than create a seamless film with proper integration of the game and story to the point where it isn't blatantly noticable that some of the gaming related scenes were put in there as an afterthought.
Karl Urban and Rosamund Pike in my opinion are gifted at what they do so other than the money or that there especially big Doom fans which seems highly unlikely I can't understand why they decided to get involved with this project.

Dukes of Hazzard 8/10.
Funny hillybilly-movie. Simpson was hot and racing scenes great.
40 Year Old Virgin 7,5/10.
Too long, but still very funny and entertaining.
My friday was saved.

4 brothers.
6/10 wasn't so bad but that 'la vida loca' aka sofie wasn't needed at all. worst actress EVER. Her role in the plot is pointless too, there's just no need for it. and the 'im allergic to latex' scene was pathetic even if she was in her knickers and bra. The film woulda got more kudos if it didnt go down this familiar road and do it badly but o well the rest wasn't bad although it was a bit far fetched to get into the plot properly.

Dukes of Hazzard 5/10 - Burt Reynolds was cool in it otherwise this was kind of a bad flick, but I msut say that i never had the chance the watch the show from the 70s...
The Cave - 6/10 - After seeing "The Descent" then I keep think this is a dupe... Though the special camera, everioment and the monster helped this movie up to a 6/10.

Mr and Mrs Smith.
Didn't think I'd like it, but found the missus and I laughing more often than not. Not a fantastic film, but worth a watch.
7/10.

Der untergang: 8/10 Touching to see what happened 'behind the scenes'. Some people complained that hitler was shown as 'too human' which I can understand from some scenes but if he really was that way than I think there's nothing wrong with showing it in a movie...everybody understands that this guy wasnt a normal human being.

Hitler was too human, that's why he failed..
American Pie Band Camp 5/10
Some people just don't know when to quit, this movie just seemed like a last attempt to pull one over on the viewers for cash.. But disregarding that it was an average teen movie with a sometime innovative plot alteration!

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: 157 minutes and the one big thing that happens is the 'resurection' of voldemort...the rest is a teenage lovestory with special effects. 5.5/10
