So I am deciding whether to buy curved or flat ultra wide 34".

Anyone has any experience in those ultrawide monitors? I really want one like right now. My 980x2 shouldn't have problem driving 3440x1440p at 60fps anyway.

I dont have any real experience with curved, so I wont vote, but its an image distortion. If you'd apply the inverse "distortion" during rendering you'd get a bigger screen with the same pixels, though.

the curve on those is very subtle and the best options currently are curved
there is only one with G-Sync and more than 60hz that is the Acer XR341CKA
if not this one, it has to be now and G-sync is not a must then the S34E790C with its squished subpixels (less sharp) and average gradients but at least you will be spared the glow and potential bleed of the curved IPS

also these two are the only ones w/ low input lag

Curved. It feels nice when you're sitting in front of it.

I think novelty wears off pretty quick. While it's cool for movies and stuff but god support for gaming is so pisspoor.

Like, why would you include 3440x1440 resolution without 21:9 aspect ratio?
or, why would you include 21:9 aspect ratio in setting with only 2560x1080 resolution..

I hate lazy developers and 90% of them are lazy.

The idea with a curved monitor is to lower the distance between the screen and the eyes toward the edges to change the flat 2D-feeling of non-curved monitors where the corners and edges are further away from your eyes than the middle of your screen.

The support for gaming can only get better from what it is now. I've been gaming with a 21:9 monitor for months and from that experience I can tell that there are very few games I had issues with. Immersion of 21:9 monitor is so good that there is no way I'm going back to 'telescope' aka. 16:9. Wink

After you try 34" curved, there is no turning back to flat one, its very nice at this size, not to mention it can help on IPS glow to not look that bad (it can be insane at this size on IPS monitors, personally i went for VA and im very satisfied to it after Spyder 4 Pro calibration, looks flawless without any glow or backlight bleeding, black“s are also very very good).
