Is it TOO dangerous?
I know its cold, but with proper gear that's not an issue, I am not sure about safety though...
I'm wondering specifically if it is possible to travel on motorways, or is it too slippery?

Why would it be? Pretty sure you can buy studded tires for motorcycles aswell.

Yes, you can, but I don't think they are legal in most countries?

for driving on roads during winter - summer tires become hard and you get noticeably less traction - it's very dangerous - like driving on wet surface
I haven't seen any winter tires for bikes so far
you can probably drive motocross offroad tires in hard snow with no problem
for the cold - there are heated seats, heated pants, heated wheel handles.. all plug in 12V
they help to a certain degree, but don't expect trying to go 80km/h+ in -0C
my bike is already stacked till next season

The ones you use for ice and shit, yeah.
But in Finland I'm pretty sure you can get studded tires for scooters and mopeds so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to for motorcycles aswell?
Or even winter tyres without studs.
I remember driving my scooter with same tires during winter and summer but it barely did 80kph so.
Like StrEagle said, "offroad" type of tyres should work fine in snow, ice is another thing though.
In Finland all highways and motorways are pretty free of ice any time of the year really, so I don't think they are the places you would be having issues in atleast.
I would be more worried about the ice and really slippery bits in lights and stuff where people break and accelerate constantly, those do get slippery and icy.

http://www.aerostich.com/self-tapping-carbide-tire-studs.html
These should be legal to use if you ask me atleast.
They look almost exactly like studs on car tyres, I really don't see any reason anyone would have issues with those, they aren't exactly spikes, just regular studs.
It does seem hard to find premade studded tires for motorcycles. If you don't count the ones with real spikes on them lol

Well I was thinking more of highways and motorways, I don't know if studded tyres would be useful in such conditions?
As for the cold wind, I think with proper gear and enough layers it should be fine, I saw a blog from someone who rides in -20C in norway...

Why you even want to drive a motorcycle in the winter? You can get the best tires and drive super safe but who says the guy behind you or in the oncoming traffic thought the same?
Empty again

Some Germans come to Norway to ride motorcycles in the winter, because its illegal in Germany. I used to drive my moped on ice, generally it went pretty fine until one day after some rain. Driving in normal snow conditions shouldn't be a problem with proper tyres.

na its not illegal in winter here in germany, if u are used to drive enduros and know who to handle slippy roads its ok. but if something happens if you drive on snowy roads (wet roads alone without ice are not problem ofc) -> no insurence would pay cause you have no suitable winter tires on your bike (and spikes or whatever are ofc illegal on public roads)

I thought it was doable in Belgium, had not much problems... it is way more dangerous than spring/summertime though. Not only the slipperiness but mostly the fact that it is dark during the most busy hours.
Somehow people are even worse in their cars around wintertime. You really need to drive defensive since you can't rely on normal behaviour from the others.
In South-Sweden... it is doable as long as there is no heavy snowfall or if it is continuous. They are pretty decent at clearing the roads if they get the time in between the snowfall.
That C1 is just horrible Drove it the first time at an event at Zolder circuit. Was about the time they first came out. Lots of people were laughing with how it looked. The balance wasn't that comfortable when you stood still.
