Ug.
Finally saw this piece of shit, and finally ended the Hobbit trilogy.
Should have been two films, not three. The first two films were to long winded, and the third film was like 3 hours of straight action. Just horrible film pacing and likely due to the choice of wanting this to be a trilogy.
Overuse of CGI to the extreme. If you want to see not how to employ CGI this is the film. The most expensive high-tech CGI in the world will never look as good as practical effects and real fucking actors folks. I swear that everything but the final moments of this movie were 100% CGI, and there was generally a very shitty filter/blur applied as well like some shitty console video game to try and mask it. Jackson went full retard on this film, and after seeing this final film it really makes one appreciate the LOTR movies more with their practical special effects and proper pacing.
Will never watch any of these Hobbit movies again. Truly a royal fuckup on Jackson's part here. |
not entirely (ENTIRELY) fair to blame jackson for this, since it was never his film. he came into it late, and the whole production was basically a mess. I wasn't very fond of the hobbit films, so im not defending the trilogy, but i still say that the film we got was never what it should have been. we never got del toros original vision, and we never got a hobbit film with jackson in control from the start.

i just watched turbo kid... finally...
this... oh god...
i have tears streaming down my face. I mean in the past ive gotten teary for different reasons... because things were hilarious, or because they were powerfully emotional, but i have NEVER had tears actually running down my face, im genuinely surprised, i didnt even notice until the end...
and i dont even know why. i cant narrow it down to one particular emotion... it was hilarious, it was awesome, it was fucking stylish, it was touching... and that was despite the at-times poor acting and deliberate silliness... this was just... oh... fun. this was a fun clever fucking charming and emotionally draining film...
yeah.. this is happening... ima give it an 8/10
that was just awesome.

You are not wrong.
However he made the decision (or happily agreed with) to make 3 movies out of the footage he shot for 2 (necessitating rewrites, reshoots and such when what he had already shot wasn't tight in the first place since as you say he came late into it). That wasn't Del Toro's vision and Jackson cannot be excused with "he just had to make do with what he found" on that one. He truly believed it was a good thing to add MOARRRRR.

Ant-Man - 6/10
Silly script, bad villain, and unimaginative CGI action (compared to the amazing things you can do with such a concept). Good for one watch and then shit-delete forever.
Young Douglas was amazing (and old Altwell maybe wasn't that bad herself).

That's why I said not ENTIRELY his fault. I'm not absolving him of his role in that mess.

A bit slow in the beginng but one of the better movies I've seen this year. Shot in one take. |
what a movie. it had everything action romance humor nice actors and berlin!!!
it was intense, i had sweaty hands, i laughed, i cried. hadn't this in a very long time.
the girl looked like an ugly version of my ex girlfriend and also i live near berlin and was more then enough partying like those guys for nights in the last years. maybe that is the reason i like the movies so much... i don't know. it was just perfect.
i give it a 9/10. will watch it later again.

hitman
oh dear.
oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.
I mean, it started off ok.. i was genuinely wondering why people were so upset with it... the action was... i mean it was OK, but it was satisfying to see a proper r-rated bloody shootout...
and then it kinda went downhill from there. really poor script with bad, silly dialog, terrible music choices, some wonky acting, silly sequences (two outfit changes, a run up 20 flights of stairs, and still able to find and shoot his targets? c'mon.. and dont even get me started on the sniper-rifle interrogation sequence... is there anyone here who didnt see how that scene would play out wayyy in advance?)...
but ultimately its biggest failing was the ENTIRE female character. WHY. why the need to shoehorn in a female sidekick. they pulled this crap in the first film... it didnt work... and again in this. it ALWAYS slows the film right down, but in this case it was infinitely worse because... well... SPOILERS.....
her whole superpower thing was just dumb. i know they explain it with magic magic science SUPER AWARENESS SENSES INTUITION bullshit, but come on.. shes... lets be honest here, seeing into the future, seeing through walls, the way it was handled was just shit... and then she just magically pulls out expert combat specialist at the end, because... i mean thats all it is really... genetics... i mean fuck training, fuck practice, you have good genes, you can powerslide along the ground and blind-fire like a fucking PRO.
GET RID OF THAT STUPID CHARACTER, and tidy up the dialogue a little - this COULD have been a decent film. As it stands, it feels like what we got was a first draft of someones half-cocked story, filmed on an insanely tight schedule that negated the possibility of more than 3 or 4 takes per scene.
4/10.

Ant-Man 5/10
Silly movie is silly. Stellar dialogues you'd expect from a Marvell movie!
It was daft... but not daft enough to annoy me so that I would turn it off. I had quite some laughs, but I'm pretty sure the makers didn't intend for me to laugh at those things.
Probably would have liked it more if I were a kid. You are blessed then with not much understanding how silly the lines are and how forced some parts were.
Also: can't they make a movie without drama these days... every fucking time no matter the genre we get some weak drama. It can build a character... not when it is done like this though.

Expected alot more from Ant-man but I knew it wasn't going to be as good as lets say The guardians of the galaxy. Oh well, good to watch once in a lifetime.

Watched the first 15 mins or so. Couldn't stand the guy's haircut (it was not even close as to being bald) and the shitty FX and crappy story intro and what else. Well atleast haven't spended more time on that shit lol. First Hitman was actually better.. Movies these days are plain shitty.. Ugh!
I guess the same fate will uphold the new transporter film my god even the trailer was so shitty I'm not going to watch 5 mins of it.
Damn I really need to watch some good movies but there isn't one avail to watch on my tv/pc atm.. *fuck*

Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials
....
I didn't hate it. In fact I found it to be reasonably enjoyable.
I felt it was on par with the first one.. I liked the first one more because the slight horror/mystery feel is more my speed than the adventure/chase style of the sequel, but I found the pacing to be good, I felt it was pretty non-stop and rarely boring, with some nice monster action thrown in. I've not read the books, so I don't have to worry about comparing them to the films, but as a movie - and as a sequel to the first film which i enjoyed - i found this to be enjoyable. Not stellar, but far from shit.... a pleasant sunday evening film.

I agree, its a tough choice between the two of them. Seeing the eyebrow kid die or just a movie without him... hmmm

+1
However..there were so many cliches...it was so predictable... oh boy...to the point where I just could see numerous times what would happen next.
6.8/10
PS The post-apocalyptic world was nicely done except for storms

Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation - 8.5/10
Truly fantastic lighting and cinematography, fun set pieces, and random sexy shots of the female co-star? What more do you want? A significant improvement over the previous (hugely disappointing) movie and perhaps the most entertaining in the M:I film series.
