My experience differs. I found a spot that took me straight down to 37fps. I saved and put shadow distance to medium, loaded the spot and I was at a flat 60. Then I quit again, switched distance back to ultra, and I was 37fps again. It also does wonders to my girlfriend's 3570k @ 4.4ghz.

Yeah, well, I only speak for my experience. My game IS using "shadow distance medium" and you can plainly see the fuckawful framerate. So now what's the suggestion? Distance Low? Shadows off completely?

Broken engine, shit-ass optimisation Sad

i got a 970 but sadly still only an i7 920,so the performance is pretty random for me. in some areas i get 60 fps on ultra while in others it can drop to 30-40 on high.
bethesda.

the weird thing is, among the areas where i get 60 fps on ultra were some heavy firefights with explosions everywhere, while in another area i drop to 40 while looking at a fucking wall without any enemies in vicinity.

This precisely! That's exactly my experience.. I can have full locked 60 in the heaviest firefights, with nuke grenades and fusion cars going off all over the place, and it's fine. Turn the camera and face Random Direction #296 of #360 showing nothing but a desert? Framerate tanks.

I actually pushed through and the game's growing on me. I like it. I gave myself basically inifinite carry weight because fuck that in every game and added a ReShade preset to counter my pretty low settings a bit. And with just that I actually feel that for once I a Bethesda game doesn't need tons of mods to fix their mess and make the game even remotely enjoyable (I suppose we still need a UI mod, but it's not nearly as bad as Skyrim).

My big problems with the game are the performance (it's really bad for me and messing around with settings doesn't do much Sad ) and the whole "building" aspect that still bothers me (however I basically cleaned up Sanctuary as much as I could and just transformed part of it into a small fortress, with the plan to pretty much ignore the other bases).

Do I need an invitation to get to the Compound or something? Should I go with Dan? Jacob at the covenant made it seem like I shouldn't go there without them knowing.

I have seen some pretty nice things from the AI, it's not at stupid as it seems. They take cover, they run away if you take position and snipe them etc. The shooting aspect is so much better than FO3 and NV.

I don't know, but I'd reload if possible and pop a mentat (or something else that increases CHR) and try again. I failed the first time but succeeded the second Smile

Oh... nice! That animation adjustment is great! Such a small thing, but such a huge impact. Shame we couldn't have that in Mass Effect 3. Because. RAM. And stuff.

So, anyone know of the possible rewards for each of the three exclusive factions?
So far i only found information for some of the Brotherhood:
- Jetpack for Power Armor
- Vertibird support
- "Tesla bar"?

Enthoo Evolv ATX TG // Asus Prime x370 // Ryzen 1700 // Gainward GTX 1080 // 16GB DDR4-3200

Sorry Bob, I've still not joined a faction grinhurt I've also just discovered there are approximately eleventy hundred companions in the game... holy shit. I figured there'd be like 4 or 5 as normal. How the heck am I going to max "relationship" all of them? I've just been hanging with Dogmeat and Codsworth Laughing

I finished the main quest and some sidequests in about 25 hours.

The story was so-so, the twist was predictable and I gave zero fucks about it.

I don't feel like exploring and doing more sidequests atm. I'll shelve it for now and come back in a few months to check on the modding scene.

you must have missed loads of stuff, to have run through the game like that. Whats is the story by the way, I wasn't even aware there was one at the point I am in the game.

37 hours in and haven't really seen a main story yet, my guess: it will start in diamond city

@sabin1981
WTF?!
I just looked at some wikis some days ago, on where to find female companions. But most of them only listed like 6-8 possible companions.
So far i only got the Dog, Codsworth, Minuteman and Cait.
Where are you finding so many others? Very Happy

@Morphineus
Yea i will continue in Diamond City too with the main quest. Just doing two more of the Brotherhoods low rank quests before. But it seems those are unlimited quest givers. Their fucking leader isn't giving me a new quest though after finishing his last one.

Thirteen of the fuckers! Shocked I can tell I'll be ignoring lots of them though, since many "don't like" when you steal, or pick locks, or pick pockets.. and many more don't like "peaceful" solutions to quests/conversations.

I wasn't using a companion at all either, then I started today. When exploring small houses and stuff all they do is get in the god damn way. I got rid of them and picked the perk that allows you to carry more if you wander alone instead. Much more useful.

I wish there was a toggle to tell them to wait outside and only follow in the Wasteland.

I did the same thing. Companions aren't even needed, the game is pretty easy even on survival difficulty.

Most of the time companions keep missing shots. Or be in a different room when the fighting happens. Or decide not to even bother following you, staying in the first floor of the hospital while you go through those elevators and face Sinjin yourself.

They dumb.
