I haven't been keeping up-to-date with those prices, hell back when I bought my Vertex 3 120GB it was still €200,- Laughing (4 years and 4 months ago in 15 days from now)

better save up for an OS/game dedicated SSD. until then, you won't know how powerful your rig really is.

correct me if im wrong but apart grom faster loading there is no benefit from ssd in games? I know of other pros ssd but at least in games it doesnt really mather.

faster loading, smoother min fps in streaming heavy games pretty much. doesn't sound like a big difference just saying it but honestly, even if it was just loading, and general system responsivness and speed, it's a huge difference.

Literally the biggest advancment in PC tech for me in a while.

I remember playing mass effect 3 a few months back, and basically I could be in game, loaded up and shooting up baddies in literally under 1 minute since pressing the power button on the PC.

Look up loading times of the console and mechanical drive PC version on yt, and you will see how long it takes otherwise.

You really have to experience it to appreciate it.

the 6600 delivers not the same performance as the 6600k cause its clocked lower, but that wasnt my point. as you dont plan to oc an "old" haswell refresh system with a 70 euros mobo + 250 euro xeon with mod bios for maximum boost on all cores would deliver better performance for the price (and ddr4 isnt worth it atm and ddr3 is cheaper).

im not saying your choice was bad, just saying i would have build the rig different

I admit I would never think about setup like that Smile As for the 6600 and 6600k this time I am correct, I think I am correct this time, 6600 non k is 3.3-3.9(boost) while k version is 3.5-3.9(boost) and on polish site there is a test of Skylake non k version and without overclocking performance of those two is exactly the same. Site is in polish but you can check it out to look at the charts

As for the ssd I understand what you guys are saying, but I really needed more space than 500gb and right now I decided 500gb of space is worth more for me than ssd perfomance. To be honest im not in that big of a hurry to go for an ssd but its day two of my new 1tb doing this strange buzzing in case and its getting on my nerves so I think I will start looking for a hdd silencing solution Smile

Also I would buy 6600k with some moderately priced Z170 mobo but it current price at least in Poland is just crazy, after Skylake release I could have bought 6600k for price similar to current 6600 non k price.

My dillema was:

6600k + Z170 and something like gtx 960 or current setup.

I decided that current combination is most "futureproof" and has one of the best performance/money ratio.

Guys since I already have a thread like that maybe you can advise me in getting rid of those strange little vibrations/humming caused by hdd. I dont want to make another home made ghetto mod as I already had one for hdd with some foam stuff but disk temp was quite high in there so I want to buy a ready and steady solution

I searched over internet and I found two solutions

First cheap one costs less than 5 euro with shipping http://www.qoltec.com/product/parts-and-accessories-for-pc/hdd-cooler/passive-radiator-with-elastic-support-to-hdd

And second one that looks perfect is sadly more expensive cause it would cost around 15 euro with shipping http://en.sharkoon.com/product/1683/00029#desc

Go for the more expensive one right away or first try this chepear one ?

Best solution for the vibration would be to put your OS in an SSD Very Happy
HDD would be off most of the time then.

Like others said, it REALLY makes a difference in daily use, every time I have to use a PC without ssd it just feels SO slow...

depends on the case, in most cases its enough to ghetto mod the rails of the hdd caddy (if the case uses such method) with rubberband

I hadn't kept up with the prices either, until I saw that 250GB are less than £70 and 480/500GB SSDs are now in the £120-130 range. And that's UK prices, the US prices are even lower.

Madness, absolute madness Shocked
