Any quick way to build shelter and stuff? There is just lot of stuff, and placing each wall, floor is too much (and some of the walls are too big for my floor..they just look so misplaced and ugly). Sad

Also, where and how to connect cables? Built water purifier and generator (both are quite a distance from each other) but not able to find cables to connect. Confused

While you are in building mode, click space on the power generator.

There are a few ready buildings under Structures/Prefab. Just scroll to the far right to see them.

It seems to influence the critical chance and better loot, not sure about later on. There is a perk 'find more ammo' you need like 3 luck to get it.

No, it wasn't one of my settlement. It was truly a quest. I had to save settlers from a location I hadn't discovered yet but wanted to do other stuff first.
Completing the quest would probably give me a settlement afterward, but this wasn't an attack on one of my already-existing settlement. One guy wanted me to go save some people and I waited before doing it.

I can confirm. I had a time sensitive quest to save a settler's sister from "Back Street Apparel" and originally failed it due to, well, not being anywhere soddin' near that part of the world yet grinhurt I quickly loaded a slightly older save and then legged it down there to clear the quest before it timed out... but it makes me wonder what other time sensitive missions there that don't actively tell you that they're time sensitive.

Which is why "modav" is a better option as the "mod" option ADDS to your carry weight limit, rather than contextually increasing it Smile Just remember that the "mod" option ADDS, so if you have 250 carry and want 500, you "modav carryweight 250", not "500" as that would set it to 750. You can also use a negative number to subtract using the modav command.

Would be interesting to see how the modders merge it with the get-in-get-out mechanic.

Don't use modav for any special stats though. I had a weird glitch during creation and my strength was stuck at -32 for some reason. Using modav only gave me a strength modifier that diesn't unlock perks.

Well this game just took an enormous shit on itself once I got into one of the towns, looking in certain directions takes a 100% locked 60 down to a hair rippingly frustrating 34-40 juddering mess and it absolutely ruins mouse input, and no it's not hardware related either as GPU and CPU usage remain low throughout. How something this distinctly unimpressive, visually and technically, can end up crippling itself is just beyond me.

Still, game is a fucking cakewalk even in survivor difficulty if you use the power armor as intended.
8 hours exploring and with 8-9 locations found I already had a power armor, minigun with 700 ammo and 3 power cores Laughing
And all this before concord.

Still fun as hell, although I'm fearing that a week isn't enough to play this properly Sad

I wish I knew the secret to my success... what version of Windows are you rocking? For me, VRAM is never above 2.5Gb, RAM is almost 8Gb. I can only guess you need something like a 970 and a CPU of a similar 'power' to mine, and even then I'm reading people with the same issues Sad

I was streaming on Twitch last night, 1080p 60fps at 8Mbps at Ultra settings, and it was absolutely fine. (CODEX rls). I'm not doing the 'I'm fine, what' the problem?' thing - I'm genuinely baffled as to what's causing such a wild range of perfomances.

Just noticed this myself. The game runs worse than Witcher 3 once you enter certain parts of the world. What a dog shit engine. I saw a Reddit post that said it's "fixed" if you turn shadow distance to medium, but that makes the game look a lot worse.

@Kaltern

Like I said, it's not hardware related; CPU/GPU usage is low, VRAM usage is less than 2.2GB, the framerate just plummets when in big towns and looking in "certain" directions and it's not just me either. This is on Win10, by the way.

@randir14

Yup, it's ridiculous and there's no goddamn way I'm putting shadow distance on Medium as it's already insultingly bad (shadows just "appearing" at <20m) on Ultra and High. Really sucks as I was thoroughly enjoying this, but it means combat in towns is just impractical.

Yep, wayyyyy too easy. Playing on 2nd to hardest difficulty. 2 hours in (two days ago) I have over 800 bullets for a particular gun, and 20+ stimpacks.

I ended up never using the power armor, because it is a bit OP. I also told my dog to stay behind, because he is OP and always fucking up my stealth kills.

Weapons don't degrade with use, so no need to pick up multiple types of the same weapons/armor.......

Just way too easy.

On a good/bad note, the environment is the best thing about this game. While wondering around, you'll come across all kinds of interesting stuff/places. There aren't many vast open areas with nothing to do. However, all the indoor environments feel kinda meh, and I don't have a desire to go through them all with another playtrhough.

Mods will end up making this game.

There is nothing easy if facing enemies with somewhat better guns.

I encountered the Synths with their laser pistols and they would have ripped me apart if there was not the Brotherhood of Steel bro as a meatshield.

I just hope there will be new drivers from AMD. As the fps drop down to 25 when looking at specific points in a city. Unplayable when you have to fight.

HO-LY FUCK, if you see a yellow protectron, RUN the fuck away.

@sabin1981 Sounds harsh, but good to know I'm not the only one, the specific direction should be like Northwest of Red Rocket (first one), should roughly be the same performance in Lexington and partly in Boston Common.

Same drops as Bob had, but interesting to see Nvidia faces the same thing.

Hopefully this gets fixed, because everyone should have that hit unless it's a super rig.

@dsergei Someone made a mod to remove the Perk requirements, might be a good idea if you can't fix it! Wink

Edit: actually, now I come to think of it, SC is also miles better on the i7 4790, and that game has low CPU/GPU usage.... I wonder if it's a similar thing here, being CPU limited.

Have you been to some of the areas around Cambridge, so far that's the worst for me. I was getting 60 fps everywhere including Concord/Corvega Factory until I got to Cambridge.

The city can be a nightmare even on a 970. During a rad storm I found a freaking wall that when looked at dropped my fps to 28. Laughing Concord is fine though. There is something wrong with the major city areas.
