Can someone post the md5 of their setup.exe that they know is clean/worked? I haven't set the VM or sandboxie up on this computer yet like I usually do.

I hear you . I was having issues with the isodemo version reverting to defaults after changes. This was the only way I knew to make them stick.

It also helps to launch the game from the .exe file instead of launcher so that it stops reverting the changes.

Ok, so been playing this all night, so can give some proper first impressions.
* Graphics are serviceable. I wouldn't say they are 'NexGen®', nor would I say they're bad. TXAA gives everything a very odd fuzzy look. Gonna try some SweetFX to liven things up.
* I like the initial storyline. Not sure what people are getting so mad at TBH.
* Love the little easter eggs and small hidden gems - like the teddy-on-the-loo There are loads of chuckle moments in the game if you explore plenty.
* Combat is 10000% better than FO3. Love the V.A.T.S. Critical counter.
* Crafting is pretty fun. And yes to answer the 'do settlements get attacked'. They absolutely do. At a certain point in the game, you get radio warnings that they are imminent. Defense is very much a good idea.
* Found 3 companions so far. Supposedly there are romantic options with some of them, so we'll see if I get get some hot lesbian ghoul action
* You CAN 'wait' but you must be sitting on something first.
* No repairing/upgrading of weapons by using another weapon... but I do like the mod upgrades. But FFS if you find aluminium PICK IT UP - it's as scarce as gold!
* For that matter, remember virtually everything has a purpose, including toothpaste.
* Terminals are the primary source of storytelling, if you care - be sure to read stuff.
* Need 10 power, but can only build power generators with 5 power? Build a pylon and attach two to it, then attach wire from that to the object to be powered. And wire only stretches so far, so make sure you build another pylon if you get a red cable.
* If you find robot horse pieces, pick them up too!
* Ammo is not as plentiful as some might think - you burn through it real quick, especially against 'legendary' mobs - bit cheap, but searching them usually yields something useful.
* If you leave your power armour outside of a power armour crafting station, it will appear on your map so you don't lose it.
* Nothing can save that awful convo system, it truly is crap.
* And finally, when fighting boss mobs, I strongly urge you to use mines. Especially bottlecap mines.
* F5 is your greatest friend.
My honest opinion overall - this is a great game, it has some shortcomings, but it is still a very playable and fun game to lose time in. Ignore they naysayers in here, it might not be the prettiest game ever made, and yes it looks directly like a console port, but put those to one side, and you;ll find the game is nowhere near as bad as was predicted - even by me. And assuming mods are not going to be pay-to-play, I think this will be an epically moddable game, and should improve things tenfold.

+1, and +2 for the mines
Playing on the hardest difficulty and a legendary mirelurk ambushed me. It was slicing off my limbs with single attack so, I managed to glitch it and empty all of my ammo into it, 500+ of the .. err worst bullets, 50+ 10mm, 20 .45, and it had around half hp left... f9 time (quick load) and ran like hell dropping 1 bottlecap mine + 1 frag mine) -> dead mirelurk
Got a poolcue which has +50% damage to animals

Sounds great guise. My CODEX download is complete. I'll start it up tomorrow evening.
But however good the game my be, I'm not giving them my money until 50% Steam sale for the simple fact that they had to optimize their game towards Nvidia. That is unforgivable.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
