I religiously bought all the previous COD's, but after the failure of Ghosts and AW - not this one! The new engine they made fucks up so many things. One of the most important things it fucks up is mouse input. Since it is deveoped directly for derpsole - the mouse input is simply an emulation (the mouse emulates a derpsole derptroller). That's why the mouse control has been absolutely horrible since Ghosts (I know this how?: I read it somewhere, and it makes sense). The issue is moslty that no matter how much you turn off mouse acceleration, there is still mouse acceleration in small bursts, out of nowhere, throwing off your aim (you'll be moving your aim slightly to the side, but instead you are now aiming at the ceiling or something). Was like that in Ghosts, AW, not in BO2, but in BO3. Something in this mouse-emulation module that they put on top for the pc version, is fucked up. I also seem to mostly affect people with certain setups (I have an i7-950 and a gtx 770), but i've read the same report from other people with newer i5's/i7's.
Maybe it could be because the "mouse" now uses more cycles than previously, since it is emulating a controller, and has second priority to rendering the game or some shit, so the input gets fucked up sometimes on systems with an older cpu?
I think it was in a reddit post on the bo3 beta, I read about the suspicion that it is a mouse emulation.
There is a little guessing here: https://www.reddit.com/r/blackops3/comments/3iix1g/things_to_know_about_black_ops_3_beta_pc/

is this a really sophisticated anti-piracy measure, or the game is simply optimized like a horrendous piece of shit? |
Change WorkerThreads in config.ini to 2. It's in the game directory in the players folder. Fixed that issue for me. | yeah, that fixed it, still runs like poop though.
As opposed to earlier Treyarch titles even the story is bad.

Another "glorious" Treyarch botch job PC version. Lousy visuals, terrible performance, input tied to framerate so that if you deviate a single frame below 60 the mouse instantly turns to sludge, constant hitching and framedrops. Must be a console port or a day ending in Y.
Only way to get anywhere near 60, and it's far from "sustained" by any stretch of the imagination, is to disable half the visual effects.
Dynamic shadows? Gone.
Subsurface Scattering? Gone.
Order Independent Transparency? Gone.
Volumetric Lighting? Gone.
AA? FXAA.
AO? High.
Everything else is on high because out of sheer blind principle I refuse to play any game on "low" or "medium" like a PS3 pleb, yet it still fills VRAM and uses 100% GPU and CPU most of the time - and yes, I did the config.ini fix to change worker threads. I'd have taken more shots but I got so disgusted with how it runs, I just shut it down and walked away.

It's not a good looking game, it's not a good *feeling* game because of the god awful mouse control, and the system rape is utterly unwarranted.

Sheesh, guess they really gimped the Kepler cards again. With a 970 I get significantly better results. It's a horrible port but a really fun game so far. Gameplay is way better than in BLOPS2 IMO.

looks like shit with everything on high, and runs like shit on my 770. gpu usage always at 95-99%, fps ditching to 35 when not looking at a wall even if there isnt much on the screen (and it looks like shit). great work craparch, great work
hope fallout works fine on my card, i see no reason to upgrade cause it still handles everything else fine so far

Afterburner / RivaTuner works here but I'm using the separately released updated 6.4.0 release of RT with some new fixes and enhancements, should be part of Afterburner 4.2.0 when it launches, no idea if there's a set date for that though.

Yep - that's what I don't understand. The visuals simply don't necessitate anything major GPU wise. Must be down to a shit port port/optimization job, although we've been getting a downright alarming number of those lately, haven't we?
Pisses me off, built this new system but swapped my old card because I didn't feel a 9xx was warranted (wanted to skip a gen!), and all these crap ports are really hampering that "new system high".
Here's to hoping Fallout's OK. I have a feeling it will be once all those worthless Gameworks settings are disabled, but it seems like nothing's certain anymore in this day and age.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.
