Isn't battlenet, origin etc doing same thing, they scan ram for cheat programs and then report it back to home. Even steam does it with csgo if i am not mistaken, thats how cheats are detected and reported back to dev. What i don't understand is why would they do it for singleplayer game.

Plus it's in the EULA, you choose to agree to it, so nothing illegal or against the law.
If they adjusted it without letting you agree to it again, then it's illegal. But doubt they are THAT stupid

well for me the most problematic part is that they send the IP to Ubi servers , i am fine with it being account-based as anticheat (like VAC) on MP games, but this is just too "Big Brother Ubi" to me

I thought many EULAs are actually invalid in some countries, because it does not override the respective law.

Such a good franchise, in the hands of such a terrible company
As much as I love Anno, after what happened with 2070: a DRM Odyssey, they can happily shove their nsa-like policies and treatments up their Ubiwazoo's. I'll activate the trusty patient bear mode nolimits mode

I think that depends per country. Nah one thing you can be sure of that EA/Ubisoft etc are doing good, that's their legal department. They will be smart enough to get away with all shit, so doubt they would allow something in their EULA to screw them over legally

Funny thing, well not funny at all really, is that a great percentage of 'legitimate' 2070 users are still downloading the UShit free version (available for some time now) and enjoying the game without the needless crap, but cracked and working fine. I own the 2070 version, but have always played the UShit free one, ever since it became available.

I sincerely hope all you chaps who have bought it can play it, just don't change the angle of your monitor or raise or lower your desk chair, as you will have to buy it again.
Seriously though, please report back on any issues.

oOh shit... Blue Byte..
That just reminded me there's a new Settlers coming, and I recall the initial info was horrifying.

Oh well, we're fucked either way, no matter, all major publishers are doing this shit.
I'll just enjoy the game for what it is, unless I'm unable to play, which then I'll rage-burn down their office

Looks good. Found a good gameplay vid:

Looks like they simplified some annoying shits from previous games and expanded on other things. Can't wait!

2070 had kind of always on drm, worked without but lacked many features (upgrades of the arc etc). think rld cracked it very fast and used a cracked profile or sth (similar to sc2). original release of settlers 7 used similar stuff, think the gold version patched it away anyways
