Original O11-13 director Soderbergh and star Clooney have initiated the project last year. Clooney might cameo as Danny Ocean.

The Hunger Games' director Gary Ross is expected to helm it.

Cate Blanchett, Mindy Kaling and Helena Bonham Carter are said to have joined Sandra Bullock in the cast. A later update says Elizabeth Banks has joined the production as well.

The film is a sequel, with Bullock playing Clooney's character ex-con sister. The premise is that Bullock teams up with Blanchett (playing the equivalent of Brad Pitt's Rusty) to create a team of thieves and steal a necklace from the Met Ball in order to frame a villainous gallery owner.

A cameo by Clooney has been nixed for the time being, although he could potentially appear in sequels. The reboot’s unofficial working title is “Ocean’s Ocho,” indicating there are eight thief protagonists instead of the traditional eleven.

Shooting is expected to begin this fall.

When I saw the title I thought that it will be a fantasy film where women would take high danger, life risking jobs at sea.
But it's O11 reboot, it wasn't even good movie so why care Razz

He says he hasn't read the script yet, so his appearance is probably pretty small, in order for him to sign up for it without knowing more.
