Looks like it's going to be very contemporary movie.
Two of the most "oppressed" and whiny classes of today's world - feminist and blacks will be fighting against evil white christian (on that poster he even looks like some inquisitor) - possibly transformed Luke Skywalker Wink
Still going to watch bluray version Razz

Kylo Ren is a teenage angsty white dude in his late 20s early 30s who loves to wear BLACK because that's so fucking controversial. #GOTH #Ihateeveryone

Stormtroopers are no longer clones. They are normal people/aliens whatever recruited from the Empire.

Then we'll see a BLACK Stormtrooper (Boyega) throw away the WHITE armor and become a better person by wearing BROWN clothes.

Then we know there are female Stormtroopers in canon now, because feminism.

Female stormtrooper captain is a huge monster feminist of a woman: Captain Phasma.

Then we know they will pump Star Wars full of STRONG female characters, because women aren't weak, ever.

Daisy Ridley's character Rey is a strong, solitary, capable, awesome woman who don't need a man. She's what we call a FEMINIST and the #GIRLPOWER is strong in her.

Then we'll see ASIANS doing martial arts in Rogue One. Because Asians gotta do what Asians do best. #StereotypicalAsian

Then we'll see at least two female lead characters in EPISODE 8. One is all but officially confirmed a BLACK WOMAN. Because Black. Because Woman. My guess is one of these new leads will be a Solo daughter because Han is a pimp. #SmugglinPimpin

Some people just like being offended... I can't see the difference between the whining on this side of the fence or the other.

Hehe, there are tons of stuff to bring up to cause people to react. We're in 2015, and everyone is touchy about races, about women with responsibilities and lead roles, and so on.

Then there are those who think women are given TOO MUCH now, almost only because they've had little in the past, and now it looks like the weight scale is tipping the complete other way in some cases where its actually becoming too apparent.

I'm all for a female lead character to in a way replace Luke, but I hope it is that way because it was found to be the best story and the best way to progress Star Wars, and not done simply because of today's social politics and that women demand more heroes in TV and movies.

Luke in the old trilogy could have easily been a woman. He wasn't macho, he wasn't really anything even close to that.

Star Wars is one, if not THE biggest movie franchise in the world. I don't believe people who say they are completely indifferent to it, or say they've never heard of it or whatever.

When we saw the first teaser. Everyone was going A BLACK DUDE, A BLACK DUDE. HE'S WEARING STORMTROOPER ARMOR, SO COOL.

Then it was THEY'RE HUNTING THE BLACK DUDE BECAUSE HE'S BLACK. HE'S PROBABLY A RUN-AWAY SLAVE. Etc... Very Happy

I remember the premiere of the 20th anniversary version, in 1997. It was filled with (cosplaying) geeks, lightsaber fights in the aisles, ... Good fun Very Happy

Two more saga films and several stand-alones coming. Noice. Made by Star Wars fans instead of Mr. Lucas which completely fumbled it with the prequels. That nobody dared to say no to the 'creator' was a disgrace. The omniscient awareness that the prequels sucked sparks a hope that even more went into the assurance of quality for these new films.

The legacy characters will fade away more or less gracefully, I believe Han Solo already in Ep7, and then we'll see where Star Wars goes from there.

I recently re-watched RoTS, which I consider the best of the prequel trilogy, and it was so cringe inducing.

Lucas needs to stay the fuck away from anything Star Wars or Indiana Jones.

You are absolutely right. I think several things that happens in Rots are not bad, but it's the way they are delivered on screen that makes me cringe.

Bad dialogue/acting is the problem here as i see it at least.

Of course a female lead role can work if written properly. Linda Hamilton and Sigourney Weaver are proof of that.

The problem is, most can't write female heroes well and it comes off like some 'grrl power' crap.

Yep, what passes for "good" nowdays is Mila Jovovich in 'Resident Evil' half whispering her lines while making a "someone pissed in my cereals" face. Laughing

The football game starts in three hours, its supposed to air at half time. Thinking it might be upped to YouTube and everywhere shortly after, but who knows, for a proper HD one anyway it could take longer.

Giants versus Eagles, 8:30 pm ET

10/10 must watch at the cinema. So Much Win

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Meh, i'm getting a lot of Episode 1 vibes here. Granted they won't fuck up and do Jar Jar again, but this movie is overly reliant on CGI and frankly i'm not seeing much substance in this film beyond the special FX's which will not age well given the over reliance on CGI.
