I see no reason this shouldn't work, but Nero doesn't allow it.

I have a WinXP SP2 image i want to burn, but i'm out of CD-R discs and have a whole lot of DVD-R discs.
So does anyone know if this will work if i just burn the files on the DVD unpacked from the .bin?
I see no reason it shouldn't work, but you never know.

it will work. There are no settings in the .cue to say 'only burn on 700mb media. or whatever you want to say. Are you sure you're burning it correctly?

Well I was using Nero and using the "Burn Image" setting from the compilation menu, and when it was about to start burning it told me to insert a CD instead.

Maybe it doesn't want you to waste a dvd-r where a cd would suffice. Razz You could always burn it as a data disc and then mount.

No it asks me to insert an empty disc.

It's a windows image i want to burn so burning it as a data disc and then mounting would cause a problem after i reformat my drive

Guess i'll just have to unpack the image and burn the files instead.

well, when i go to burn image in a120% (im guessing you have it) it gives me a pop-up saying "Alcohol has detected a DVD Burner installed on your computer. Do you wish to burn the current image file to DVD media?" regardless of what type of image or how big it is. under or equal to 4.7gb's.
